Anxiety hell

Does anyone else have horrific mornings? Nausea, retching, palpitations, sweating, etc. It's ghastly. I've been like this for two months now and am really struggling.

Any tips or advice gratefully received. Thank you.

That sounds awful OP, I've never had anxiety like that but I really sympathise.

What is making you feel so awful?

Aquamarine1029 · 29/06/2024 10:34

This is a common symptom of peri-menopause. Could that be a factor?

I don't really know. I mean there are a few minor niggly things, but nothing that should be making me feel this bad.

Cortisol (the stress hormone) is naturally highest on a morning and that can make things worse.
Definitely see your dr but also do more general stress reduction thinks like mindfulness and breathing exercises (if you google there are lots of self help things.)
It's a horrible thing but it can get better Flowers

Definitely right about the cortisol

Do you drink alcohol? Always gives me morning dread. Also are you drinking enough water?

Backtothe80splease · 29/06/2024 11:16

I sympathise op. I’ve had this for years and it’s just getting worse each month.

This week has been awful. I’m actually dreading waking up as the mornings are the worst.

Are you going through any stress atm?

I have tried everything but think it’s now time to go onto antidepressants, nothing else I’ve tried is touching it.

Cattery · 29/06/2024 11:55

ADs can definitely help

Not a lot of alcohol and enough water, I think.

Not any specific stress, no. I've been off work.

I (re)started antidepressants just over two months ago. They've helped a bit, but I'm still struggling a lot.

Although they can kick in sooner for some people I have found it can take a good 3-4 months for me to benefit. Hope you start to see some improvements soon.

politicalintrigue · 25/07/2024 08:18

sounds horrific

is it one of those mornings today?
