How do you entertain a three year old and one year old?

DS is 3 and a half; DD turns one in a couple of weeks.

DS loves to run, climb, jump and explore so parks are great. DD would like to do all those things too but she can’t walk yet so can’t really do anything at the park except swings and gets bored of those after a while. She isn’t content or keen to sit in the pushchair for long periods and won’t nap in it either!

How the heck am I going to keep them entertained throughout the summer? Even now my days with them are hard going but at least there’s usually a group in the morning suitable ish for both.

Take a blanket to a playpark - one with a fence so 3 year old can't escape - and he runs around and plays and she sits on the blanket with some toys and you.
Have you got a friend with similar age children you can go with so you can take turns running around the park and sitting on the blanket.
Can she walk when pushing something? Maybe a toy shopping trolley/pushchair will get her walking around the park?

Totally second a decent park where LO can run round safely. I was dirt poor as a mum to small ones, but I was never in!

Also, small paddling pool is fabulous, or two small ones if they need them filling to different levels. Bubble bath in them is good cheap fun, and a few cheap plastic kitchen implements like a funnel and empty milk bottle.

Put them both inside a large cardboard box with some (washable) colouring pens.

In the garden, put a large bowl of water next to the little one and give them each a paintbrush and tell them to paint the fence/wall.

Playdough. Make your own so it doesn't matter if they eat it.
