Wimbledon queue - first timer, help!

Hoping some seasoned queuers might help! DH and I are planning to do the queue next week as it's my birthday on the Saturday, and exactly 30 years since I last went. We really want to be early enough to get Centre, which means being in the first 500 on the Friday. So if anybody can help with answers to these questions I'd be very grateful:

What time(ish) should we get there? I've looked back at last year's View from the Q Twitter feed and it seems that people arriving about 3.30 were early enough. Any other experiences? I know it will depend on weather, who's playing the next day etc.

As we'll be carrying tent, chairs etc. is Tube the best way to go or should we go another way? I'm worried that we'll have too much stuff to cart around!

Is there a rule on BBQs etc, in the queue? I know you can get food delivered from local places but can you bring your own disposable BBQ for example?

Any other advice/tips very welcome. Thank you!

Check out queue guide at: Queuing for Tickets - The Championships, Wimbledon - Official Site by IBM
BBQs aren't allowed
Depends where you're coming from but Tube probably OK before rush hour starts.

Thanks, I have read that but wondering if anybody has personal experiences to add to it!

I find using the tube is the best/easiest I think. Queue from 3 and you should be ok. BBQ is a definitely no - plus you might struggle with a tent (?) enjoy!
