I've lost count of the times I've stood in my DC's playground waiting for them to come out on the Friday we break up for summer....aaaand the heavens open and don't stop for the next 6 weeks. It's usually been a lovely June to add insult to injury (though it was hailing here a few weeks ago!).

Wishing nice weather next week on those who are already off but not too nice for those in the remaining Scottish local authorities who are still soldiering on in classrooms of 26c in the absence of air con and not enough fans to go round.

I really feel we should be nationally standardising the Scottish summer holidays though at the very start of July.

I'm in Glasgow, i love Aberdeen and the beach there, its gorgeous. Love Stonehaven too and further down to east neuk, lovely parts of the country

Schools where I am break up tomorrow and the heavens opened about 4 hours ago and is forecast to keep going until sometime tomorrow night. Saturday & Sunday look ok so far then all next week is meant to be raining.

Happy Summer, everyone!

They break tomorrow here and the weather forecast is shit for as long as I can see on the forecast. It feels like it’s been winter for almost a year now and honestly, those ‘it’s too hot here in England’ threads can fuck right off.

Merrilydancing · 27/06/2024 19:59

To be fair, the weather has been pish so is just continuing on the same vein!

liveforsummer · 27/06/2024 20:11

It's been nice in Edinburgh today but unfortunately we still have to go to work/school tomorrow 🙄. Agree it's been the worst spring/ summer in my memory though!

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 27/06/2024 20:29

My son’s last formal day of schooling was the 11th. He then had end of year exams, with the last one on Monday. He doesn’t go back until September 3rd (2nd is a statutory holiday).

We are in Canada.

IrisM22 · 27/06/2024 20:31

And I tested positive for COVID this morning. With a four year old and two year old to entertain. Great start!

Seriously, how is this news? Scottish schools break up at the of June (Edinburgh finishes tomorrow) and goes back mid-August.

I guess not everyone knows the school term dates in Scotland, unbelievable though that is!

Wontletmeusemynormalname · 27/06/2024 20:34

Mine finished on 21st go back 22 Aug. Alton towers was still packed yesterday!!

Viscoelasticity · 27/06/2024 20:35

Jealous. Wish it was my holidays right now.

TheSproutOfWrath · 27/06/2024 20:35

South Ayrshire here. It's blowing a hoolie , pishing down and I've lit the fire.

Chipsahoy · 27/06/2024 20:36

Another one here in north east, we break up next week. It’s been a lovely day today. Monday was the best though, scorcher.

BigHoops · 27/06/2024 20:52

In Glasgow. Listening to the rain absolutely pelting the window. Luckily we fly somewhere warm tomorrow!

dementedpixie · 27/06/2024 20:59

We were naughty and went on holiday to Cyprus on Sunday even though the school didn't break up until Wednesday lunchtime. Although to be fair ds was in S6 so he had finished school forever after his last exam and prom was over.

ssd · 27/06/2024 21:08

I think it feels worse as we aren't going abroad AGAIN

North Ayrshire. Schools go off tomorrow. Teeming and blowing a hoodie. As far ahead as I can see, the weather is more of the same. 14 feels like 10, either raining or grey and dreich. It seems like it's been like this since this time last year with the odd dry day here and there. It'd burn your biscuits.

Misthios · 27/06/2024 21:20

We went away at the end of May which was lovely, loads of sun for 5 days. Still hopeful of some warmth,

mrsfeatherbottom · 27/06/2024 21:21

NI here and my DD finished yesterday. Today's weather: 40 mph winds and rain. Typical!

Same - so depressing!

DinnaeFashYersel · 28/06/2024 17:19

That's us finished up now. And finished with primary school too.

The sun is out and its a balmy 15C.

Scorchio 😂
