Do we need a wardrobe in our nursery?

Buying our nursery furniture and not sure about how useful a wardrobe will be, or not? I can’t imagine wanting to hang up lots of tiny outfits and imagine we’d be better off with a large chest of drawers and some IKEA organisers inside instead.

Did/do you use one?

It’s personal preference so go with whatever you’d like. I like having a mix of hanging and drawer space. The wardrobe we have has two rails in (one above the other), which is a good use of the space.

Probably not. I used to hang dresses, but they could have been folded...

Remember though... this is furniture for a child not just a newborn. My youngest is 11 and we still have some of the same "nursery" furniture

I had a chest of drawers and wardrobe but wardrobe was largely pointless tbh.

that said both of my children still have their nursery furniture and the eldest is off to secondary in September!

Yes I found hanging space helpful and also stole some space in there for me! Don’t go for silly miniature furniture get proper sized furniture which will last forever. We went with nearly to ceiling ikea pax with hanging and drawers inside

Make sure the child cannot pull the furniture on top of themselves, secure it to the wall if necessary.

Dd1s room was tiny so we had a large chest of drawers and a sort of pretty coat rack to hang up the couple of dresses she had.

well, how long will your child live there? mine is 27, still in the "nursery" and still using the wardrobe.....

Another one that went for a large chest of drawers (secured to wall) as room is a single and this allows us to store the largest amount of stuff- such as spare water proof sheets and bed clothes, blankets etc. Spare coats and the odd ‘party dress’ are hung in my wardrobe and still are at 6 yrs old.

I got one from Dunelm that's a chest of drawers, very deep ones with a small hanging space on the side of it. I only hang jackets in there but his shoes that I've kept are on the floor of it in the boxes.
