Little girl at the wedding - what can I get for table play?

Aged 2.5, lovely child. All other guests chose not to bring their children, all were welcome. It’s a long day for her, there will be a quiet place but I also would like to get her some little toys (nothing that can stain, or mark though). My imagination only stretches to a sticker book. Does not need to be table only - anything small to help her get through the day in good mood. I am sure her parents will think of it too. Any other suggestions? Thank you.

I'd leave it up to the parents mainly, but a sticker book would be a good bet. Maybe a couple of small (but not mouth sized) toy animals maybe?

Crayola do mess free colouring books, I’d get one of those and a little soft toy like a unicorn or a little dog on a lead

At my wedding I gave the two little ones a little activity box with some colouring bits in and a disposable camera with a list of things to take pictures of (pictures of the Bride and Groom, first dance etc). So they just ran about during the reception taking photos. The photos were hilarious!

Needmorelego · 26/06/2024 08:50

A little Duplo set.

RubySloth · 26/06/2024 09:05

Light up table top spinny toy

Bubbles?
Little Duplo set
Water magic colouring book

My DD would have loved a sticker book.
Dog on a lead or something with a bed or blanket, like a cat or a bunny would have worked too. Imaginative play can last longer.

notsofantastic · 26/06/2024 09:08

Love the idea of a camera!
stickers
magic colouring book
nothing that needs adult help
nothing that is small and could get lost (tears!)
nothing noisy or with flashing lights

No suggestions (I don't know what 2.5 year olds like yet...) but just wanted to say that someone did this for us at a wedding recently and we were so touched by their kindness. I hope you (and they) have a wonderful day!

Stickers book.
Disposable camera to take photos, 2 of them.
Duplo set.
Doodle board with magnetic drawing or etch a sketch. So no paint and easy to restart new drawing.

Staggered times to give to DC so they not bored and have something to look forward to.

Depending on budget, and if you know her interests, you can get a wedding themed book for lots of mainstream characters (eg Peppa Pig). Stickers and bubbles are a great idea, as is Duplo.

I got DD a seaside themed water colouring book from Tiger recently which would work well (but the pen was pretty hopeless). Mini pencils and paper for colouring on? You could get a little white party box to contain whatever you buy (the sort of thing you might do a party lunch in for children) and let her decorate it with stickers as part of the entertainment?

You sound like a very considerate person!

AGodawfulsmallaffair · 26/06/2024 09:24

How thoughtful of you, such a nice thing to do, and such a change from banning children.

ChillinwiththeVillains · 26/06/2024 09:25

My default gift for 2-3yos is a tea set. They are about £15-20 and made of tin with patterns on. Endless enjoyment serving people food and she could even eat her wedding breakfast off it. Otherwise sticker book is a great gift. Have a wonderful wedding.

Notmydaughteryoubitch · 26/06/2024 09:31

Sticker books are great but I think go for the reusable ones like the Melissa and Doug ones as they are easier for kids that age to do on their own, a lot of sticker books are difficult to do on their own as can be quite fiddly. I think a little toy stuffed animal that they can play with is also a great idea and will probably make for some super cute pictures for you too!
I wouldn't bother with disposable camera at that age.
The parents will bring her favourite toys etc so no need to go overboard but novelty can help with interest at that age too!

HanaPales · 26/06/2024 09:36

What a nice idea! Wish we had done something like this at our wedding.
Lots of great ideas on here. Just thought to add that if she likes dressing up like mine does, a sparkly headband and some fairy wings will make her day (especially if they're in the colour scheme of the wedding so she feels very important and part of it all!)

Magnetic tiles are great.

Fuzzy felt?

sashh · 26/06/2024 10:05

I'd do an A4 envelope with different wrapped things inside. Let the parent dole them out as appropriate. My mum would do these occasionally for long journeys, they would have a list of things on the envelope that if we spotted we could open one parcel.

Bubbles, colouring book and crayons, small sort toy, maybe on a key ring, stickers, hair slide(s), some sweets maybe a small glittery purse.

whyey · 26/06/2024 10:07

Bubble wand? Paper and crayons. Washi tape and safety scissors. Her parents will bring stuff too I imagine so it’s just a nice gesture on your part so don’t worry too much. Have a great day! X

notsofantastic · 26/06/2024 16:44

Please don't give her a bubble wand, the liquid in the bubbles can really stain clothes (from experience) which isn't great at a wedding.

Veritysays897 · 26/06/2024 16:49

At that age, a lovely little bag with things inside! A little mirror, brush, furry toy, stickers etc.

Orchard Games do a great toy for that age that is called Dress Up Nelly!
