Alcohol and school run

Its not my decision as she's an adult. But do you think it's bad to drink alcohol when you need to get kids from school. No driving involved. I personally think it's bad . Because even one drink you can smell it.

Maybe I'm just being a dick .

Depends on how drunk, surely? One or 2 drinks and I'd be fine to collect the kids. A bottle of wine, no.

I'm pretty sure DDs school has a license to sell pimms etc at the school fair.

A glass of wine with lunch occasionally- not a problem

Everyday - time to seek help

I drink once or twice a year and I would have no problem with this so long as they weren't driving and or drunk.

One glass of wine over lunch occasionally is acceptable. Larger amounts and regularly isn't a good look

This.

Though I think a very occasional one-off special event, rather than, say every Friday.

I think it would depend how late the lunch was as well... I'm a lightweight and to be honest, don't really drink any more, but I think I would feel really self-conscious that other parents/teachers would be able to tell if I'd had even one drink much after 12!

Our village primary school is next door to the pub. Definitely a thing to go with the kids and sit in the pub garden after school - sometimes a glass of wine before pick up - occasionally on nice days. I know a couple of mums that did Boozy Tuesday once a week but was not aware of anyone doing it more often than that. And as far as I know there was no driving involved as people lived in walking distance.

What? Why on earth would you be self conscious?

I wonder if the same people that have an issue with this are also the people who think you should never have a drink in the evening if you’re the only adult in the house in case you have to drive them somewhere (tough luck for those of us who are single parents then! 😆
not something I subscribe to! Although admittedly didn’t drink much when mine were very little just because being woken in the night/early morning was so horrid it wasn’t worth it!

My kid won't drink water either so we send him with flavoured water and have done for 3 years, it keeps him happy and the school happy, would your daughter swap to flavoured water?
