Pretty simple, do you have one and if so would you recommend it? I want one but there is so much choice! It’s just for some swimming, I’m a wimp and want one 😂 dh is absolutely flabbergasted that I’m not embracing the cold water!

I've researched them a lot and tried one from Amazon but I think unfortunately I'm just too fat and would need a mens. Do u live anywhere near a surf shop etc where u can try on/get good advice?

Have a look at Lomo. Wide size range and reasonably priced.

I actually swim in rash leggings and top with a neoprene vest, shoes and gloves if cold. You need to keep extremities warm, so a neo hat or headband can help too. I do have neoprene leggings for when it's cool.

Ignore anyone who takes the piss about wearing a wetsuit, it's important to keep warm, getting cold is dangerous and you risk not just your own life, but those who may need to rescue you.

I swim in the sea in Scotland. Before committing to a wetsuit try swimming with leggings and a long sleeved tight top like a thermal one. You need your arms covered as the cold will feel like daggers on your lower arm. Best get gloves 5mm thick and some sort of neoprane shoe. If you can swim like this then no need for a wet suit but if you find you can commit then worth spending money in one. You can also buy head to toe swim suits on Amazon that look like wet suits but are easier to get on as they are swim suit material and cheaper. It’s all about when you get out and keeping yourself warm once out tbh.

I do, my dc have them and love the sea which means I had to get one so that I could go in with them. I found every single women’s one was ridiculously short in the body, I kept trying bigger and bigger sizes but they were all the same- so ended up buying a men’s shortie one on vinted.

I always used to subscribe to the wetsuits are for wimps, but now I’m in the “can’t be cold because I’m old” club which is much better (and warmer)

Firstly wetsuits are not for wimps, they are for specific reasons. I swim skins all year round but for longer events I wear a wetsuit to allow me to safely stay in the water for longer.

I have blueseventy wla I’m a short size 18 with boobs the ‘a’ on the sizing is Athena range which allows more room around the chest area.

It’s worth checking out places like eBay I’ve recently upgraded mine and will be putting the old one on soon.

You said you felt a wimp about getting in the lake at this time of year. Would you swim in the sea on holiday for literally just a dip? Getting in the lake is no different. Now is a good time to try temperatures are around 16/17 degrees they will get a couple of degrees warmer over the next month or so. Try it and set your first target as getting in. Then try a short distance. Your friend will be very encouraging it’s about the camaraderie and fun no one judges those who don’t want to stay in longer.
