DD (18) really suffers from prickly heat in hot weather. We've tried various lotions and potions, but has anyone got anything they swear by?

Where is she getting it?

Loose natural fibred clothing is the best way to stop getting it in the first place.

I take an antihistamine tablet. Works for me.

Usually arms and legs...we do cover up as much as possible

My mum used to go on a sunbed to bring it out before she went on holiday she swore it worked!

I just take an antihistamine you can also get calamine lotion cream it's great for getting the itch out.

Aloe Vera, straight from the plant, sorts it out every time.

My entire family have this. It’s a nuisance.

antihistamine
NO (and I mean no!) oily products on the skin, moisturiser or shower products that are oily
Wash the skin with bar soap
sunblock should be oil free (piz buin sun allergy is ‘okay’ - but Rona Ross prickly heat one is better - you can get it on Amazon)
put NO cream on the rash - no steroid cream or antihistamine cream - it will block the pores further. If you have to use anything, use ‘snake brand prickly heat powder’.
take Heliocare capsules in the June/july/august months - again Amazon. Brilliant (read the reviews).
hopefully this will help - we are a family who really do get fed up with this but the above does really help if you stick to it!

Snake brand prickly heat powder. On line as selling it in Savers or pricy Amazon now they have increased the minimum spend for free delivery. It does work for me and have used it for years in Asian heat.

Start taking an antihistamine every day before the holiday. Use a none greasy sun cream with no alcohol (I have previously used Piz Buin Dry Touch but it has been discontinued, so I'm trying their allergy cream this year). Shower twice a day with unscented shower gel (I use Sanex Zero), don't layer lotions on top of lotions.
Chilled aloe gel is very soothing on the prickly heat itself. It doesn't have to be fancy, we've got Banana Boat gel from Home Bargains.
