Broad bean help!

Help! I kill all plants yet my 5 year old has somehow managed to grow this broad bean. She says it needs to be planted in soil now that the leaves have grown past the top of the cup. Is that right? Do I literally just put a bit of soil in a pot and water it? Inside or outside? Google is being unhelpful and speaking in general terms rather than the very specific instructions I need.

Outside, decent sized pot as they get quite large.. and if you have some compost in with the soil it will grow better. Even better if you can put it in the ground .Water regularly :) Make sure it's watered as soon as you repot it. if it gets blackfly or aphids, squirt with washingup liquid and water :)
I always grow broadbeans :)

@Sonolanona thank you for being so kind and responding! Would banana skin work well as compost? I read that it works for roses (not that I have any roses). When you say water regularly is that every other day?

In this brief nice weather I water daily but if it's outside and not hot I water every few days. Also as it grows it's best to tie it to a little stake as they tend to fall over! I've never used banana skins so have no idea!
Growing stuff is fab with kids. Next year buy a bag of seed potatoes (or even one from your own food) and plant a couple in a large bucket... my kids and now grandson LOVE hunting for spuds and they only take a couple of months with the odd bit of watering :)

If you put banana skins in the ground now they will likely still be there (but mankier) at the end of the summer - they don't decompose well outside of commercial compost facilities. If you can get a little bag of multipurpose compost from the supermarket it will do much better, although you definitely don't need that much so if you have a friendly neighbour who's into their garden they might just let you have a little bit.

The broadbean appears to be thriving. Here’s a photo. DD is giving it about a tablespoon of water every couple of days. Seems stingy but it is also growing so maybe she knows what she’s doing.

Can anyone advise on next steps?

Get it outside and a bigger pot.. it's too tall and weedy because it needs proper outdoors light or it won't produce anything... you really can't grow broadbeans inside!

Oh and actually water it Grin
