Im excited ive got a job interview coming up but ive been asked to do pre work (respond to a number of hypothetical workplace tasks, fairly easy) and present this to them for 15 minute timed slot. Ive never done a presentation before and im a bit nervous. I almost feel like pulling out and cancelling my spot. It makes me feel anxious. I cant talk for 15 minutes!

do you think if i pull the tasks together in word and have them up on the screen and just talk through my thinking on each one and how i would respond, is that enough? Or do you think full powerpoint?

I remember doing something similar for a job when I was 18, I was a nervous wreck and completely fluffed it.
Still got the job.

I'd say your plan is great, if it will help you, go for it. As long as the job isn't for public speaking or giving regular presentations to groups, they won't be concerned if you're visibly nervous. Best of luck with it!

Think of your presentation as being a piece of storytelling, and about the messages you want to convey.

I would do a PowerPoint, in fact I've got an interview next week which has a similar structure.

If you're talking for 15 minutes I'd probably aim for about 5-7 slides. Use them to put your key takeaways for each point you want to make, and they can also double up as an aide memoire for you.

I’d do slides with key points to talk through. Is this on Teams? Use the notes function to give yourself prompts for everything you’re going to cover.

You can do this!! :) good luck x

Before taking early retirement, I was a leadership trainer and specialised in presentation skills.

For 4 people, I’d anticipate that you’d be seated so it will be relatively informal.
As @Changingplace has suggested, have just a few slides making sure you put just headings and bullet points on them. Make sure they are in a big enough font to be easily read.

Then have written notes to refer to for your introduction and conclusion and for each slide. Avoid reading out your notes. Instead speak naturally but refer to your notes to make sure you’ve made all your points. Say you’ll be happy to answer questions at the end.

Be sure to look at each person as you speak. Slow down to give emphasis to important points.

Practise in advance and make sure you know how to work the technology.

Good luck, it seems daunting but is fairly straightforward if you look at it as an information /communication exercise rather than a presentation.

I had interview and had to give a presentation to two people for 10 minutes

I did the prep using chat GPT and it was so awesome - my first time using it and then refined it using my own expertise and organisation knowledge

I then did a power point. There were 6 slides with a title and three bullet points with a few words and a relevant image for engagement and make it look slick. (So you would do one for each of the task)

I then sat and recorded myself at my laptop. Several times! Then I listed to it in the car!

I got the job!
