Has anyone tried the Aldi 'dairy free' plant based cheese range?

Hello,

I have an almost seven month old baby who is weaning well. I'd like to start introducing some sort of cheese to her diet but due to her CMPA I am limited as to what I give her.

I've been doing some research and realised Aldi sell plant based soft and cheddar cheese. Has anyone tried this?

Don't give your child ultra processed muck.

It’s not food.

Try goat cheese or sheep cheese like Pecorino Romano.

Just to illustrate the point …

Has anyone tried the Aldi 'dairy free' plant based cheese range?

Parlick Original Pure Sheep's Milk Cheese 150g | Sainsbury's (sainsburys.co.uk)
Ingredients: Pasteurised sheep's milk.

My DH has cows milk allergy . I'd recommend sheep's and goats cheese before any of the plant based cheeses . To be honest most don't taste great . Aldi do a good variety and Tesco has a few good goats butters .

I do like a nice vegan cheese, especially Applewood smoked!
That said, I'd never feed it to a baby, it's so unnatural and full of shite.

My daughter is dairy intolerant and she's now 9 and has no dairy at all. We've tried introducing it on the milk ladder a few times with no luck.
The cheese replacements have come a long way in the last few years. And we shop at Aldi and use them.
I think for weaning I'd consider why you're using them.
We use them as a replacement for a meal item where you'd usually use cheese but not buy themselves. Such as pizza or toasties. Or the soft cheese for puddings.
She did go through a stage of liking the soft cheese on crackers but she's not so keen at the moment.
We use soya milk in recipes where we'd usually use cows milk such as white sauce in lasagne. We eat it as a whole family for ease a lot.

My DD is really not limited in her diet.

What types of things is she eating at the moment?

Please don’t give your baby animal milk based cheeses. Goat/sheep cheeses/milks are likely to also be a problem due to the protein allergy, and potentially dangerous depending on her level of allergy.

We use vegan cheeses due to protein allergy. yep they’re UPF, yep they’re junk, so we keep to a minimum. But as part of a balanced diet it’s fine to me.
