GCSE DT project - recycling survey

Hello

I have agreed to circulate the below link on behalf of my teenager who is doing a GCSE Design Technology project on ideas to help reduce recycling waste. If you would kindly fill in the survey that would be really helpful.

Any discussion on the ideas which keep this thread in active topics is also helpful as it will attract more people to the survey, thank you for your time.

Done. As a retired Dt teacher I am always willing to answer but some of the questions were a bit difficult to answer due to the bins etc. our recycling is collected in. Good luck with your project.

Thank you! Yes I was worried about how difficult it might be if some responders have completely different kinds of recycling containers but it's a learning process.

We have 8 replies so far and I want to say a special thank you to whoever replied who has an axolotl as we love axolotls

I had difficulty on the fish question as we have 6 small ones, so I put 3.

As a matter of interest why the pet questions? Neither our GPs nor our snake produce recycling. (Our LA won't let us recycle hay as garden waste even though they are vegetarian. Snake is NOT vegetarian!!)

Done- and lots of luck!

Savoretti · 21/06/2024 19:31

Done
and bump

boombang · 21/06/2024 19:32

good luck! I did the best I could with estimates, but we recycle into huge communal skip type things

There was no mention of recycling into fuel - there is quite a lot of burning rubbish going on in homes in winter right now, to keep heating costs down, if you have a working chimney in your home.

I think the pet questions are originally there in order to assess whether a thing to turn recycling into cat/dog toys might be welcome but then not wanting people who have less common pets to feel left out!

I've got too many cats for the survey 😂

Jellykat · 21/06/2024 19:57

Done, great idea re. survey..
Good luck re. your DSs GCSE!

Littletreefrog · 21/06/2024 20:01

Done. I would say most of the things the recycling could be turned into seemed to be quite long term things such as the storage or toys etc. You only have a certain amount of space for things like this. The amount of recycling we get through we would be inundated with storage boxes. I would prefer it if it could be recycled into another consumable such as paper bags for shopping or pellets for burning in fire/stove.

blackteaplease · 21/06/2024 20:03

It's me with the axolotl! And having read the thread I've just realised that we do reuse cardboard for our rabbits as they love a box to play with, when it's totally shredded it goes in the garden compost pile.

WhamHamThankYouSpam · 21/06/2024 20:07

Done 😊

boombang · 21/06/2024 20:18

yes, rabbits were missed off their pets list I think!
