Blood test results?

Recently had bloods done as have been having excessive hair loss (hasn't stopped since giving birth over 3 years ago), brain fog, fatigue, hands and feet always cold, palpitations etc. B12 and folate tested and both are fine. Have attached blood tests results which show low iron and transferritin saturation. GP said all bloods were normal. Haemoglobin not shown on this page, but it was the higher end of normal. I know I'm not considered anaemic due to the normal haemoglobin but I was wondering if someone more knowledgeable than myself advise if supplements may help, and if so which ones? Have already been taking a multi vitamin with the RDA of iron and I eat plenty of red meat and spinach etc.

Ferritin needs to be, iirc, above 70 for healthy hair growth. Get some high strength iron. Iron bisglycinate has better bioavailability than ferrous fumerate/sulphate and doesn’t cause nasty gastro side effects.

What were your B12 levels? You can still be symptomatic at the lower end of the normal range because the range is set so low in this country.

Was your thyroid tested?

Low Vitamin D can also cause many symptoms but is no longer routinely tested.

There's loads of really helpful groups on FB eg iron deficiency/low ferritin support and awareness and Vitamin B12 Wakeup

Just because you're eating it doesn't mean you're absorbing it unfortunately.

Did you get your thyroid tested?

Thank you everyone for the replies. B12 was also at the higher end of the scale. Mine is 628 and the range is 191-663. Thyroid tests all normal too. I had thought about some kind of malabsorption disorder, but would that not cause the b12/folate to be low also?

Nearly always diet intake or heavy periods in women. If any bowel symptoms or over 50 should be considered for fit testing for bowel bleeding
