There was a thread with good ideas over the weekend. Let me see if I can find it.

Put a bit of vaseline under each nostril, stops the pollen getting in

There are a lot more effective medications than piriton. How old is your daughter ?

Portion isn’t the best thing to take and can make them fee drowsy.

Ask the pharmacist for Citerizine liquid own brand is so much cheaper or if old enough they sell packets for 59p

I use a nasal spray from the doctor but you can buy them over the counter at the chemist, the one I used to buy was called beconase and it was very good .

Glasses help with the eyes if she doesn't already wear them. Me and my daughter (9) both struggle with very swollen eyes almost shut every day. I bought her glasses.(just clear ones from anywhere, not prescription) She's also slowly getting used to drops. Twice a day even when there's no symptoms (sodium cromogligate) also washing face a few times a day or wiping with a baby wipe. It's so uncomfortable until you get into a routine that works for you. The hayfever wipes from bnm are the best we've found.
With medications, different ones suit different people. Piriton works for us, but loratadine works best for my son. So try different things. Good luck!

as per the linked thread try Opticrom for her eyes

Snackpocket · 20/06/2024 21:49

Allevia tablets, by far the best hay fever tablets, and beconase nasal spray.

Snowdropsarelovely · 20/06/2024 21:50

Ask your daughter is 13 I would definitely be looking at fexofenadine plus a nasal spray. If you can get a GP appointment they will be able to recommend the best thing for her. This year my daughter has been prescribed a steroid and antihistamine nasal spray combined which seems to be helping her on top of a strong dose of fexofenadine.

I use Beconase from early May until about mid July and it really helps. It's most effective if you start taking it before symptoms are bad, so maybe try it for now but remember it next spring.

Opticrom may be OK but if not, the pharmacist might be able to prescribe Olopatadine. I've found it much better.

Also - she could try to wash her face when she gets in, use regular eye drops to wash pollen out of her eyes, keep the car windows up, things like that.
