5 year old telling my child 'see you next Tuesday'

Aibu to be pissed off about this.

5 year old classmate walks out of school repeatedly shouting 'see you next Tuesday' to my ds.

Obvs he nor da knows what it means but his parents clearly think it's funny to be teaching a 5 year old to say this to his peers.

I'm annoyed about it, should I speak to his parents, school or let it go?

Nah let it go, assuming your child has no idea they're being called a cunt by an innocent child?

Does neither child question why it's always Tuesday, or is that the only day of the week they seen one another?

Triskeline · 19/06/2024 18:50

This sounds like an overreaction, given that you say neither child knew what it stood for, and you can’t possibly know that his parents taught it to him, or think it’s amusing that he says it..?

Tiswa · 19/06/2024 18:52

Unless you have real reason to think it was the parents it is likely to be something he caught older children saying. Older siblings can teach that kind of thing - let it go

You dont know it was the parents. Could be an older sibling, could be something they've overheard and think its funny because its not Tuesday tomorrow (5 year olds find weird things funny). I wouldn't get involved.

I wouldn't say anything but he wouldn't be allowed to go round to that kid's house for tea!

I'd let mine go, but only on Tuesdays 🤣🤣

I’ve never heard this phrase. Where is it from?

That's an interesting question.

I've never thought about it being 'from' anywhere. It's just one of those phrases that's been around forever.

Mummyfinally2019 · 19/06/2024 19:01

He doesn't have older siblings

Oh well must be the parents then. Couldn't possibly be an older child at school or a cousin or friend etc etc.

TwattyMcFuckFace · 19/06/2024 19:05

Could be older kids at school, older cousins, kids next door.

Or anyone really.

Perhaps his parents don't want to stop him saying it, for fear of having to explain what it means?

Sometimes ignoring these things is the quickest way to put a stop to them.

He could have heard it from parents or other family members. I doubt a 5 year old would be able to understand what it means. He probably just thinks it sounds funny. I'd just ignore it.

A teacher is not going to be able to tell him to stop saying it because he won't understand why.

Oh ok. I'm assuming it was 'See you next Tuesday' or the OP would've typed cunt or cu*t, or similar.

Edited to add: Or 'cuxt' 😂😂
