Can somebody please explain to me what each party is offering/promising as I have no idea who to vote for.

Never been into politics, voted a couple of times and each time felt I just voted who I thought was best out of a bad bunch.

Now that I am in my late 20s I feel I should really start to educate myself and at least know who I want to vote for and not just cross the same box as family and friends!

Would someone be so kind as to briefly explain to me how each of the main parties differ on key policy areas?

Thank you

It’s difficult. Labour aren’t perfect but I do instinctively trust Reeves and Streeting.

In those political quizzes I usually end up with Plaid Cymru. If I tick that I’m actually in England, I get Green. Not keen on either party’s attitude towards women tbh but they’re left leaning and pro-immigration which I like.

I don't know what you've been reading, but the parties are not similar.

My DC school is having a mock election and sent us this to help. Aimed at teenagers, so a simple overview, but hope it helps!

The point made above about needing to look at what happens in your area is important. For example I want the end result to be to remove current Conservative MP and wanted the same result at the last election.

Last election I was in a different area and Lib Dem was the alternative to Conservative. Current area the alternative is Labour .

@heldinadream

The Tories have been in charge of the NHS for the last fourteen years and whenever challenged on anything to do with it will simply blah - we have increased the funding by x billion etc etc. Which may be technically true because it's possible to do great trickery with big complex numbers

All the covid contracts have been put in the NHS budget apparently, so yeah, when they say they've spent extra billions, that's money that went to their mates on dodgy contracts, not on hospitals or any of the much needed staff

Thanks for all the links folks.
My dd was asking me how she should decide, and I hadn't found all of these.

Much appreciate it.

Can't understand why people take the time to comment, just to be snarky . Hmm

It is hard. You also need to look at your local area, and just generally at the individual candidates.

I really think the country needs change, but then look at the country and the NHS. Labour are promising to increase NHS staff but also increase hours that people have access. I don't know where they will find the staff for this. Maybe they will increase pay etc. But any reforms will take years.

I work on the NHS and patients are getting more and more complex overall in the area I work in. I imagine it is the same every where. There are no quick fixes to any of it. Whoever gets into government has a tough job.

What appeals to you most out of the following:

Cocaine over the counter in chemists? Vote Green
National service? Vote Tory
Non-binary ID? Vote Lib Dem
Free motorhomes for party officials? Vote SNP
Fully funded sex change? Plaid Cymru
Smoking in pubs and no immigration? Reform
Polite middle class people to stand around ineffectually looking sad and anguished at the shitshow the country is in? Labour

Ha
