Dentist appointment before my wedding -do I cancel?

I have a dentist appointment for 2 fillings 10 days before my wedding
I'm scared that it's going to cause tooth pain and I'm debating changing appointment till after the wedding
What would you do?
It's two small cavities
They causing no pain as of yet
What would you do?

I can't imagine it'll be a problem. But if you're going to worry about it, maybe it's worth remaking the appointment for that reason alone.

Lurkingandlearning · 19/06/2024 16:06

I’ve never had a filling that has caused pain. If you have a history of dental work causing ongoing pain then you should cancel. Just bear in mind, you might have to wait for your next appointment while your tooth will be decaying

prinkett · 19/06/2024 16:07

It's playing on my mind every day tbh
Well I've waited 2 months for these filling's and I'm assuming it's gonna be another 2 months for the next

I would get them, more likely you'd feel pain from not having it done!

PleaseletitbeSpring · 19/06/2024 16:29

Of course it won't cause pain. Leaving the cavities will

Kinneddar · 19/06/2024 16:30

Even if in the unlikely event it causes pain its not going to last 10 days.

prinkett · 19/06/2024 16:55

I'm overthinking I know
I've had loads of fillings and never had pain after
They are only small too so should be okay

It wouldn't even cross my mind to cancel tbh!

Whooper · 19/06/2024 18:15

Get them done or odds are you'll get an abscess on your wedding day

dscisaknob · 19/06/2024 19:02

Get them done. They are small cavities so there shouldn't be pain afterwards and certainly not 10 days afterwards.

Pinkbits · 19/06/2024 19:04

I'd postpone it till after. Should be OK but you never know. Why risk it when you're not in pain?

prinkett · 20/06/2024 11:01

Thanks everyone I'm just going to go
I'm lucky enough to still have a nhs dentist so I don't want to mess them around
Hopefully it goes okay

I was going to say postpone, they might hit a nerve or something, but when you said you had an NHS dentist, then definitely go - I'd go on my wedding day if I could get an appointment!

PleaseletitbeSpring · 20/06/2024 11:13

Just to add, cavities smell. As someone who filled them for a living, I know they have a distinctive odour. Better to have a sweet smelling mouth on the big day!

I reckon you'll be fine.

Towerofsong · 20/06/2024 11:24

I've had some large fillings and have never had fillings done that hurt afterwards. My face might be uncomfortable on the same day from any injections. Worst case scenario my tooth is a little sensitive the next day. That's all. You'll be fine

prinkett · 20/06/2024 12:24

Do you think it's likely they would hit a nerve ?

OP posts:
footgoldcycle · 20/06/2024 12:25

Far better to get it done. Ten days is loads of time. Will be much worse if you put it off and end up with an infection (that really would ruin your wedding)

No, they won't. I go to work after having fillings. 10 days is eons, you'll be fine.

Anjo2011 · 20/06/2024 12:27

Get them done. You’ll feel fine the same day. The last thing is to leave them and then you get pain, you will kick yourself.

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 20/06/2024 12:37

You could have full on root canal and be fine within 10 days.

Get them done, odds are if you postpone it will all go wibble over your wedding/honeymoon. Be sure and tell your dentist you are getting married, they might give you a special deal not the white kind of fillings.
