Generalised anxiety disorder and SSRIs

Recently been told I have GAD, I've cut out caffeine and symptoms massively improved but I was having a conversation with my friend yesterday who said how much she was looking forward to something. I just thought "how lovely to feel that' and I suddenly realised I sort of dread things instead of looking forward. Is it worth a chat to a GP about medication?

Yes. And also ask about therapies available to help you retrain your brain (ie. CBT).

The SSRIs will help you 'think' more clearly and calm you down and the therapy will teach you ways to approach life differently and challenge your own thought patterns in a non-critical, non-judgemental way.

It's natural to feel apprehensive about this but that's the GAD overthinking all the worst case, 'what if' scenarios and generating the feeling of dread and anxiety as a result.

It's really worth it. Don't overthink it, just do it Flowers

Thank you so much, you're absolutely right about the overthinking it and the reason why, I'd never thought about it like that.
