I want to do my bike test, I did the CBT years ago but it expires so will need to do that again and then the full bike test. Anyone have a clue how much that might all cost?

Or if there is anything else I might need to consider?

When I did it about 8 years ago the CBT was £125, then direct access course, think now you'd be looking at around £800 maybe.

What are the entitlements on your licence?

After I did my full bike test I did 6 weeks of advanced lessons, so I could keep up with everyone else who had been riding 15 + years.

It is now complicated to get a bike test. R Good luck.enting a bike and its owner as escort to get a 'full' license means that some recommend taking a 125cc test. You can only ride 125cc bikes, but you can get the license cheaply (ride yourself to the test centre etc) and then plan your next move.

I didn't quite follow the first bit! But are you saying to buy a 125 first and then take time to get the full license?

Sorry, phones.
A few friends have spent over £2,000 to get their unlimited license.
In each case, several attempts were required and they had to rent the 600cc+ motorcycle AND the instructor to accompany them to the test centre, wait and then escort them back to base.
One of them has since recommended to others that learning on a 125cc bike, riding oneself to the test centre, passing (or not) before riding home alone would be a better approach. The 125 can then be ridden without L-plates and CBTs become a thing of the past until you're ready to try the test for a bigger bike.

If you are over 24 then you can do direct access and skip the staggered route .
I did my cbt and rode a 125 for four months before taking my full test . I wanted some road experience and I think it paid off .
I passed my Module one first time and then a week later I passed my Module two . It cost about £1000 all in. This included a few lessons on the big bike before the tests - strongly recommended as much heavier and faster than 125 bikes and you need to learn how to pass the tests on that bigger bike .
