How much control in a holiday let?

I've stayed in a few holiday lets and while they've all been different, I've never experienced anything like this. The woman who owns it has a list of rules which I can vaguely understand but she has little laminated signs throughout with directions such as not opening the French doors as flies will get in or how to only flush the loo after a wee. Is this normal now or is this ott?

OTT

LovedFedAndNoonesDead · 18/06/2024 14:13

Massively OTT - little notes are understandable if there is an unusual way an appliance works or for a lock on a door/window. Telling someone they can’t leave a door open because flies might get it is simply ridiculous unles 5ey provide air conditioning units in case it’s hot!

Pinkbits · 18/06/2024 14:14

Laminated signs are OTT. Alex Polizzi wouldnt approve.

Only flush the loo after a wee? So a poo is meant to stay there?

Yep, OTT. Ignore.

Candlewhiff · 18/06/2024 14:15

OTT, they seem to forget that people pay to stay there.

That's where I'm at, I don't understand as people are on holiday and paying a lot to stay for what it is

We booked a lodge in May and we got sent 13 pages of terms and conditions, it was lovely, but had we known this, we wouldn’t have booked. One of the conditions was no outside noise after 10 pm, but although the owner’s house was nearby, 2 of the lodges the occupants were friends and they were very noisy outside up till midnight nearly every night.

😂😂🙈 Oh god, I was so irritated I said it the wrong way round. I meant don't flush after only a wee

Oh and we can't have the heat on abivs a certain point or aircon on too low

If it's yellow let it mellow.

I think if you're the sort of person to worry to that level, then thats fine, but you shouldnt own a holiday let. As for the heat and aircon, if they havent build in mechanical/electronic limits to their controls then you can do what you like.

They've even put its because it's too expensive for them. If that's true, then like you say, they shouldn't own a holiday let?

I would be flushing the loo every time I walked past for no reason and I don’t see why they should dictate when doors are open.

They'd have to either factor it into the price or get their controls all configured so customers couldnt change them beyond set limits.

PCcrisps · 18/06/2024 14:44

Apart from the fact that it's annoying, people who need to be told this stuff aren't going to do it anyway.

We stayed in one that had signs about using coasters.

I'm paying nearly £1000 for 3 days in a lodge by a man made lake in England so I hope she's factored that in 😂

Oh wow

We have instructions to put the bin bags out... Fine... But then drive/walk our rubbish over to the industrial bins 1/2 mile from the lodge. It just seems beyond
