Has anyone had fluid in their ears or ear wax?

Not sure what’s going on with my ears but wondering if anyone has any ideas.

I had an ear infection a few weeks ago. It cleared up with an ear spray and antibiotics and felt fine for a week. However this past week my ears feel so full. And like they need to pop. Even when I do pop them they just feel exactly the same. I have been pinching my nose and blowing down and they do pop but I get no relief whatsoever.

I wondered if it’s ear wax but I didn’t have this problem before the infection so feel like it’s unlikely. If popping my ears isn’t getting rid of it, then what will?! I have been referred to ENT but I’m waiting for an appointment and have seen on my NHS app that the waiting list is 6 months. I can’t cope with this until then! I called a private clinic who will do a consultation for £250.. but before I spend all of that money, is there anything that I could try for myself? The problem is, I don’t know what is causing it. If I specifically knew if it was just pressure/fluid or wax or the infection lingering then I could at least know what to try to solve it. Has anyone had this?

I think i would go back to GP and have them checked to rule out the infection reoccurring, they will be able to tell you if its wax or infection. Spec savers offer a wax removal service but wouldn't try that until you rule out infection.

No not exactly but my son had many many ear infections , apparently he had a build up of wax and very small ear canals which meant any water which got in, some stayed in and caused an ear infection . On a holiday abroad we explained the issue at a pharmacy and they sold us a spray which dried out any water left in the ear , it wasn’t painful and stopped the recurring ear infections . You might have to speak to a pharmacist or order online . Also, try ear candles , really easy to do and quite relaxing also , lovely coal fire crackling sound that sounds like it’s in your head! Best luck

GP told me to try beconase for this - you can get OTC but it gave me terrible migraines. Might be worth a try.

I went to specsavers and paid less than £200 to have the ear wax suctioned out of my ears. The blocked feeling was very annoying, but I had also lost quite a lot of my hearing which made my job and parenting very difficult.
