Hello,

Just interested in knowing what you think is the best laundry detergent (with a baby) for stain removal power? Baby has started weaning and despite using a bib she still manages to get food on her clothes.

What works best for the stains? Ideally a detergent with built in stain removal please

Thanks

I pretty much tried everything and they are all much the same. Vanish powder added to the wash worked the best but it's not perfect. The best way to get the stains out is to air dry in the sun. The sun will lift out most stains that the detergent doesn't. It's like magic.

Fairy liquid and sunshine are the best stain removers.

try a long cotton cycle first (if you don't already)

if that's not enough try bio powder.
if that's not enough pretreat with washing up liquid or oxy bleach products.

Soak them in a bucket of soapy water as soon as you remove them until you’ve got enough for a wash.

I rub fairy liquid into obvious stains or grease marks, wash in any old bio powder but add a scoop of napisan, keeps my whites nice.

Spray Milton steriliser onto the stains before washing. Dry in the sun.

Bio-tex, but you need to use it to pre soak, and not everywhere stocks it. I go to a local International store (Asian supermarket), you might be able to get it on Amazon.

Vanish gel, rub into the stain and soak. Wash them leave in sun.

I used to put any stained clothes in white vinegar, baking soda and hot water mix right after the stain happened and then into 40C cycle with rest of the clothes.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I'll give some of these a go.

Would love to use the sun as a natural stain remover, however, where I live the sun seems to hardly make an appearance 🙄

Sunshine. And if you don't have outside space to dry clothes then don't sweat it. Clothes do get stained, especially baby ones with food. It's not a big deal.

CelesteCunningham · 16/06/2024 13:43

Honestly I just accept the stains. Will she be going to nursery? Just accept tomato pasta sauce stains as part of your life now if so Grin

Honestly i gave up. Bio makes me itch so had to be nonbio. If the stains are bad, i just threw the stuff out. Its usually vests, and most places wont take 2nd hand vests anyway. My mum friends with older kids said they'd never found anything either!

It doesn’t need to be bright sunshine, although that is best, even an overcast day will help, uv light is still getting through the clouds. You might need to hang things out a couple of days on the trot though.

caffelattetogo · 16/06/2024 16:31

Napisan and outdoor drying, even on dull days.

Boogiemam · 16/06/2024 16:35

Napisan in the wash and Tesco do a brilliant spray in a pink bottle for stubborn stains. Spray in rub in, leave 5 mins and chuck in the wash. Never failed me yet.

Justwantanap · 16/06/2024 16:44

Napisan and then dry in the sun.
