Would you use babysitter who's been exposed to Norovirus?

Hi,

Just a quick question to get opinions....babysitter was minding a family last night when two of the three kids became unwell and the third has since become unwell. The school has Norovirus cases and the kids now seem to have it.

My DD is one. I'm not nervous of colds/dirt etc but I've had vomiting bugs myself and am nervous of babysitter carrying it into the house to baby and me.

Babysitter is being very upfront telling me. What would others do? I'll happily still pay her for her time either way

No way.

Has DD been exposed through school and why is she babysitting? I'm all for exposing kids (autoimmunity in the family) but Noro is nasty on the other hand if it's a big event without an alternative I would just risk it. They are likely to pick it up at school anyway.

I'd cancel her. Your daughter is only one year old and it's not worth it.

I think you may have misunderstood.
The op's daughter is 1.
The babysitter that would have been looking after the op's 1 year old has been exposed to noro.

Unless it's me that misunderstood.

No i wouldn't risk it unless it was life or death/urgent/completely unavoidable and no alternative

MyGirlDaisy · 14/06/2024 15:51

No I wouldn’t risk it either.

sleepyscientist · 14/06/2024 15:57

@IncompleteSenten sorry meant nursery our DS went to a 0-18 school nursery at that age

OhFensa · 14/06/2024 15:59

I've spent the last four days puking into a bucket whilst sat on the toilet. Avoid!

MrsSkylerWhite · 14/06/2024 15:59

Hell no, NV is horrible.

Cocktailsandcats · 14/06/2024 17:49

I've cancelled her. I tell myself it's good to expose them to some germs for building immune systems but Norovirus isn't worth it

Hopefully the babysitter doesn't have it but too big a risk
