Early flight or afternoon flight ?

bailoe · 14/06/2024 08:04

1st option 8.30am gets us there for around 12pm

2nd option -4.10pm gets us there for around 8pm

We are only going for 3 nights
1st option is a extra £100

Which would you choose ?

Well the first obviously.

TeenDivided · 14/06/2024 08:05

First option, if you live near enough to airport.

CheeseWisely · 14/06/2024 08:07

Is this your second thread on this? None of us can decide for you. If you won't miss the £100 book the earlier flight, if you will then don't.

Quitelikeacatslife · 14/06/2024 08:07

First for sure

Nonewclothes2024 · 14/06/2024 08:12

Always the early flight. You get an extra day there.

maw1681 · 14/06/2024 08:35

First one, if you do the second one you'll just arrive and go to bed pretty much so it's a waste of a day really

StikItToTheMan · 14/06/2024 08:43

We've just been abroad for 3 nights and chose the earliest possible flight out (6am, landing 9.30am local time) and latest possible flight back (take off 10pm).

That way you get three nights but four full days.

For us it meant grabbing a couple of hours sleep and leaving home at 2am on day 1 to go to the airport - so we were definitely a bit tired on day 1. But day 1 we used to check in then mooch/relax/read/nap around the hotel pools which you don't need much energy for! Then a decent night's sleep and still three full days to look forward to.

Bjorkdidit · 14/06/2024 08:59

OP you seem to be overthinking this somewhat.

What sort of holiday is it? If you want to go to the beach and have a wander around getting your bearings when you get there, it might be worth changing to the early flight.

But if you're going on a clubbing holiday and getting there at 8 pm will still give you 2/3 hours to get checked in and get ready before your first night out, then the £100 would be best spent on drinks and club entry etc.

If it helps, we've deliberately chosen our holiday so we go out early on the first day so we can get there in time for lunch, a wander around and a couple of hours on the beach in the afternoon. Then on the last day we're flying back late so we've got 3.5 days holiday for 3 nights in the hotel.

If you arrive late and set off back early in the morning, you still might be paying for 3 nights in a hotel, but only actually have 2 full days of holiday because you arrive too late to do anything on the first night and on the last day, all you can do is get up and go to the airport.

bailoe · 14/06/2024 09:10

No it's a relaxing holiday
No clubs or anything
Just want to enjoy the sunshine and nice meals
That's what's making me thinking about earlier flight
We already have the later one booked as it was only £16.99 with Ryanair but we have paid for all inclusive at hotel so we will loose that day

Going by your other thread, if the earlier flight also involves using a different airport, I'd not bother, chalk it up to experience and then remember next time that you want to fly out in the morning and fly back in the afternoon/evening

bailoe · 14/06/2024 09:17

@Bjorkdidit no the earlier flight is the airport closest to us
Just with jet 2 rather than Ryanair

OP posts:
Runninghappy · 14/06/2024 09:18

Early obviously

changeison · 14/06/2024 09:18

Jet 2 far more reliable than Ryanair and earlier flight always better!

SocoBateVira · 14/06/2024 09:23

I'd go with the earlier flight then.

thenightsky · 14/06/2024 09:26

Earlier flight with Jet2 without a doubt.

CheeseWisely · 14/06/2024 09:27

If you're abandoning your existing Ryanair flight out and flying with Jet2 instead, it's worth making sure they won't cancel your flight back (assuming that's also with Ryanair and booked together).

Some airlines do and some don't. I know easyJet don't and BA sometimes do, but not sure on Ryanair. If they reckon they could make a dime out of it though it wouldn't surprise me.

Verite1 · 14/06/2024 09:29

Earlier flight definitely. Especially if you would miss an entire day AI otherwise. A flight at 8.30 is not too early. How far are you from the airport?

Jettyspaghetti · 14/06/2024 09:32

I would always go early.
I love standing in the airport queue at half 5 in the morning in my shorts and t shirt, it's not too busy, things seem to move faster.

MimiSunshine · 14/06/2024 09:34

You gain a day by flying out earlier. Why would you not want that? Sure it’s £100 but for such a short trip, is it not worth it?

unsync · 14/06/2024 09:52

Always the earlier flight and any airline over Ryanair.

BigDahliaFan · 14/06/2024 09:56

Earlier.

bailoe · 14/06/2024 10:01

Thanks guys just booked the earlier flight
Feel like it's worth it to get our moneys worth in all inclusive
We don't fly back till The Thursday night but hotel stop all inclusive at 11

OP posts:
MadKittenWoman · 14/06/2024 10:25

Always book earliest out and latest back so you get an extra day, in effect. Most places have storage so you can arrive and leave outside of check in and check out times.

changeison · 14/06/2024 11:01

good thing about very early flights is they're more likely to leave on time as they haven't had time to have issues!

BearSoFair · 14/06/2024 11:07

I flew early (qith Ryanair) last week and it was a revelation! Through security in 10 mins, cleaner plane than my usual experience, departed on time...probably the smoothest trip I've had with any airline in all honesty!
