Packing a buggy to fly…

Do you leave the wheels on or take them off?

We’re going to put our city jogger in the hold so hoping to pack nappies and the kids waterproofs in the giant buggy bag too, but not sure if it’s best to leave the wheels on or take them off and risk damage to the bit that goes into the buggy frame!

Any advice?

We have always taken ours off. Different brand but same concept. Easy enough to click on after.
Also found it gave more room in the buggy bag for nappies, jackets and a travel portacot. Amazed me how much we could cram in!

@spottygymbag Thank you! I was wondering about the travel cot and if I should put that in there too!

I never took mine off. Last thing I needed at the other end while trying to corral a crawling baby was to have to reassemble the pushchair. I personally wouldn’t shove other heavy objects in with it though. Soft stuff, yes, but not a cot as would anticipate it getting bounced around a bit.

@mindutopia thats a good point actually. Thanks

I have a bag for life under the buggy going through the airport with two of the £5 primark fleecy blankets in it. When we're waiting at the gate I fold the buggy, wrap moving bits in a blanket and it all goes in a big bag, along with nappies picked up airside at boots.

Done multiple flights like this, and it's been fine (so far)

Blankets also came in handy on one fateful Greek holiday when toddler and teenager both came down with a d&v bug in the middle of the night, but less said about that the better!

We took our wheels off but I think that might have been necessary to fit it in the buggy bag.

@BugBugTheTornado good idea about the blankets especially when I know there’s a D&V bug going round the primary school.
