Can you vote by proxy by post?!

I've tried googling but it just brings up proxy OR post.

DH and I have postal votes, he is leaving this weekend and will be out of the country for the election so we applied for me to be his proxy which we've had confirmation of. I'm worried a postal vote will arrive for him which I assume I can't use? Would I be able to go to the polling station and vote for him even if he had a postal vote sent to him?

I'm a Presiding Officer, you definitely can't vote in person if he's had a postal vote issued. If you look up Electoral Services at your local council and give them a ring, they'll tell you what to do. The whole purpose is to enable people to vote rather than prevent them so I'm sure there will be a procedure. Better do it quickly though before the postal votes are issued.

You can do a postal proxy vote request but you can't do it online like a normal proxy so I think you have to check on your local council website directly.

Alternatively, could you post him his postal vote recorded delivery when it arrives and he post it back? Might be easier.

Thank you, he's going to be in the Falklands so I doubt we'd be able to get the vote to him and back in time to count so need to do the proxy. Will give the council a call.
