Anybody know what this pretty little plant is? It has appeared in the bin area outside my block of flats.

You could try a bit of a description whilst you're trying to get the image to work (use Preview to see if it does)?

ALongHardWinter · 12/06/2024 20:30

Oh there it is!

Oh, Lobelia.

CharlotteStreetW1 · 12/06/2024 20:30

Lobelia I think.

EatCrow · 12/06/2024 20:34

Pretty! Are you going to rescue and plant it in your garden?

Butteredtoast55 · 12/06/2024 20:44

It's definitely blue lobelia. It's a bedding plant but it sprouts up here and there and doesn't need deep soil to root itself.

ShrubRose · 12/06/2024 22:09

FYI - Google now has an image search. It's wonderful! There were some flowers growing near where I live and I took a picture and identified them on Google.
Just searched your photo, and Google agrees with PPs that it's lobelia!
😊

haddockfortea · 12/06/2024 22:34

We had one appear in a crack under the front doorstep a couple of years ago. I think it must have seeded itself from the previous year's tub of bedding plants.

Sweet little plant, and really under-rated.

I would if I had a garden! I live in a second floor flat.

Thank you everyone that has responded. Lobelia it is! I'm just amazed that it could grow on virtually no soil!
