If someone offered you money for your soul, would you sell?

Very random question I know

I'm not religious but no, I wouldn't.
I'm stupidly proud of the fact that I once had a vivid night terror where I believed I was going to be dragged to hell by a demon and I fought back. With a pillow Grin

fedupandstuck · 12/06/2024 12:20

Yes, because I don't have one, so it would be money for nothing. I'd have to check that the person wanting to give me the money wasn't putting themselves into financial difficulties as a result. But if that's what they really wanted to do, then I would take the money.

WitchyBits · 12/06/2024 12:25

No. Not for anything.

I was sexually abused and exploited as a teen. I've been raped, beaten and abused by men. But they have only ever been able to hurt my body, never the part of me that'"me". My body is just where I live, but for me, my soul/spirit/whatever is what is actually ME. And that's not up for sale.

There's a funny Simpsons episode where Bart sells his soul to Milhouse for 5 dollars.

This was my very first thought when I read the title 😅

TealDog · 12/06/2024 12:54

No I wouldn’t, not for any amount of money

Sue152 · 12/06/2024 13:02

If someone wants to buy your soul they're not going to be good and aren't going to use it for good - so it's a no from me at any price. Not that I believe in souls but what would be left when it was taken? You could just be a shell, a dried out husk.

TootGoesTheOwl · 12/06/2024 13:08

Of course @Soubriquet , pm me your best offer!

If they're daft enough to pay me for a thing that doesn't exist, I'd be negotiating on a bridge, a left-handed paintbrush and a tin of tartan paint as well.

Or like the person who went onto Dragons' Den pitching a single right glove to wear on your right hand when you were driving in Europe, to remind you to drive on the right side.

Kitkat1523 · 12/06/2024 13:12

No

IncompleteSenten · 12/06/2024 13:13

I don't believe it exists so if anyone wants to give me money for it, pm me 😁

Coaltodiamonds · 12/06/2024 13:15

What would it actually mean though, while I'm still alive? If I'm soul-less because I've sold it, how would that affect me day to day? I'm not averse to the idea, but I need to understand the Ts & Cs before I commit.

IncompleteSenten · 12/06/2024 13:19

Isn't the deal normally they get it when you die?
Or ten years I think according to that film crossroads I think it was called.

MinervaMcGonagallsCat · 12/06/2024 13:20

Absolutely.

I don't believe in souls so that would be the easiest money ever.

TheMithrasDirective · 12/06/2024 19:34

But surely the point of the question is that it assumes you do have one. I don't really believe in souls either, but for the sake of this discussion, we have to accept the premise that we do. It's pointless saying "I haven't got one so yes, I'd sell and be laughing all the way to the bank."

Assuming you have some sort of immortal soul, and it is transferable, is there anything for which you would exchange it? Is the Q

EatCrow · 12/06/2024 19:36

Soubriquet · 12/06/2024 11:22

See that’s my sort of thinking. Do I believe a soul exists? Well no, but if someone is willing to put a price on it, then maybe it’s something you best keep just in case

Yeah, I’d definitely want to see the contract and analyse it with a microscope.

Robert Johnson. Followed on by several artists who claim they’ve done the same. Bob Dylan mentioned in an interview. All myths I believe.

Runningupthecurtains · 12/06/2024 19:58

Steer clear of crossroads in Mississippi if your answer is no.

I sold my soul in highschool to the immensely goth son of the local vicar for a coffee and a chupa chups lolly.

High school was weird. Hope he's looking after it.

I love this.

BarHumbugs · 12/06/2024 21:17

I'd give it away for free along with any or all other imaginary parts of me like my chakras, chi and the invisible blue dragon that lives in my mind when I'm manic.

Sdpbody · 12/06/2024 21:18

There isn't much I wouldn't do for 10mil.

I'd also do most things for £1m.
