So we normally pay it off each month but I need to put 400 on there for about 4 or 5 months.

IT'S A tesco mastercard one, silly question but what interest would I pay on 400 or 600 pounds please.

There's all sorts they could teach in schools.

How credit cards work

Mobile phone contracts - which is best - paying £800 for a phone and £7 pm for a SIM only contract or a 'free' phone and a £45 pm contract for 24 months.

How student loans work

How much it costs if you spend £10 a day on lunch and coffee over 1/5/10 years.

Definitely far more use than SIN COS TAN will ever be to the average student! And those that need that will pick it up quickly later on anyway.

make it relevant & they'll be far more interested (& informed!!)

& for god sake, teach them price per kg/unit. Value for money.

Grin I had to teach (50 YO skilled manual worker) DP part of SIN COS TAN and some physics for a qualification he was doing where he needed to know how long ropes hanging from beams at an angle needed to be and forces they could safely be exposed to.

And I did say, remember when you were at school and you said you'd never need to use this stuff after GCSEs? Well now you do.

@Credicardconfusion if you are struggling to pay off 400 pounds then really consider whether or not your need to buy theatre tickets!!!

Credicardconfusion · 12/06/2024 12:09

I'm not struggling

This is very basic maths. Primary school stuff.

They do try to teach kids how to apply numbers in RL situations. That's why there are all those word problems with scenarios. They can't use every single scenario, so I'm sorry if you or your kids never got one like this, but they did teach you the basic skills to apply.
