Is it stupid to go to the Dr's for a 'cramp'?

NC

3 years ago I had a gastric sleeve. All been perfect.

A year ago I tried to move a heavy couch and thought I'd burst my stomach staples or something! I think I may have pulled a muscle but it lasted maybe 3 mins but I felt dizzy etc.

The last few weeks I keep getting cramp in the same place.
It's just feels the same as calf or foot cramp but here (see photo) left hand side of my body.

Te same place that I got the pain when moving couch.

I've gotten it:

When curled over trying to paint my nails.
When trying to touch my toes
When I've been sat on the floor a long time then stand up.

And just like cramp it goes after 30 seconds or so after I stretch/rub

Do you think I should go see the Dr?

I wouldn't if I kept getting calf cramp for example but it's been 3 years since my sleeve so it's unlikely to be related to that?

i wouldn't bother a doctor with this. It'll just be where your abdominal wall has been cut.

This. Just muscle spasm.

I get this, in the same place, when doing similar movements. Feels like part of guts have twisted round or got stuck! Freaks me out for a minute then vanishes. My daughter gets it too. I googled it once, it's not uncommon and I don't think it's related to your surgery.

It does depend on you and your GP's availability.

It certainly isn't an 'emergency' so you would be looking at a standard appointment when available if it persists.

I tend to consider whether I would be prepared to pay the cost of a GP appointment - estimated at £42 for what is happening to me.

If I think it's worth £42 I will book and if I would begrudge it I either wait and see or go and look at information on the NHS website/other areas - or post on mumsnet (which can be an interesting source of information)

Thankyou so much! That's exact how it feels. Like it's twisted, I think that's what was panicking me, but I'm glad to hear it's normal
