It's a bit much.

OP posts:

Brilliant, I will thank you very much!

Enterthewolves · 11/06/2024 08:26

FFS - it is a paid for advert. Mumsnet is a commercial company - they aren’t the civil service or politically restricted.

fieldsofbutterflies · 11/06/2024 08:29

They're a private company, they can do what they like.

GentlemanJohnny · 11/06/2024 08:30

It's telling me to do so now.

It's a paid advert. No different to one in a newspaper (if you can remember them).

Sadly, I won't because in our constituency Labour throw a party if they manage to retain their deposit.

Vote Lib-Dem and get the Tory out here.

SpringerFall · 11/06/2024 08:30

They didn't tell you anything it is an ad like a million others, conspiracy is always tomorrow

Spinet · 11/06/2024 08:34

They could endorse Labour if they wanted. They won't because they tend to stay out of party politics - they won't even tell people to vote - but they could.

MaryMaryVeryContrary · 11/06/2024 08:38

Bet the ‘they can do as they wish’ responses would be different if they were promoting Reform U.K…

Why would it be different? Because you think we're all labour supporters?

MargeSampson · 11/06/2024 08:42

I love the way it says 'Vote Labour we will create nursery places' as if Labour think the only issue women care about is nursery places 🤔 .

The site is called 'Mumsnet' not 'Womensnet'

HTH

No more than any advert is "telling you" to do or buy something.
It's just advertising. You don't have to obey. 🤷

Persianpuss · 11/06/2024 08:46

"We'll give you 3,000 nurseries but let men into women's rape centres, hospital wards, prisons, toilets etc. and tell you it's wrong to say that only women have cervixes/ovaries". There, that will shut them up.

I'm still a mum but nursery places are not on my radar. Protecting my teenage daughter is. The advert annoys me because it is focused on nursery places. Besides there are no empty school classrooms in this area to use as a nursery

Yup. Because Labour is one of the two main parties in this country. Reform is a registered business trying to get some MPs with a manifesto that includes removing the country from international structures of law so we can act in a way that is currently illegal due to human rights legislation. It is not a mainstream party.

If Mumsnet supported the Tories, for whom I will never vote, I might leave Mumsnet but would still think they can do what they want.

CurlewKate · 11/06/2024 09:02

My neice told people to vote Labour at her father's funeral last week!

I'd rather be told to vote Labour than to buy "follow on milk", frankly.

ASighMadeOfStone · 11/06/2024 09:03

Oh!
Silly me.
I've been here for 20 years and have a house full of things that Mumsnet told me to buy that I didn't need.

Except I've got a braincell so haven't.

Allthehorsesintheworld · 11/06/2024 09:11

It’s just a rolling ad, not specifically chosen by MNHQ but the language of it will be tailored to the site content language. All done by advertising bots.

BurbageBrook · 11/06/2024 09:39

Mumsnet is not the BBC. It's a paid ad. Totally normal.

Are you a fan of the two party system?

Not especially. Nor am I a fan of extreme right-wingers who don't respect international norms of humanity.

Bobbotgegrinch · 11/06/2024 10:34

It's an advert that's served up by the company that Mumsnet use to provide adverts, I doubt Mumsnet were even aware of it before it started showing up. It's been paid for just like any other advert.

A similar advert showed up on the website for The Sun newspaper yesterday, and it's definitely not the Suns position to push their readers towards Labour. (Until a week before the election when the writings on the wall. They did the same in 97 with Blairs landslide)

Nor am I; but it can’t just be fine because it’s a party you agree with.

That's not what I said though is it.

KreedKafer · 11/06/2024 11:21

I don't think you understand what the word 'advertisement' means.
