Long shot - anyone know any accessible hotels on the Isle of Wight?

We need a hotel that can accommodate my disabled father. He's totally wheelchair bound, has a carer and ideally needs a wet room with rails in it. I know it's a lot! I'm not really getting anywhere online, so I just thought I'd ask the MN hive for some suggestions.

TIA.

Premier Inn Sandown says Accessible and Accessible wet room on it's website.

If self catering is an option then you might find something here

Danish Hotel at Shanklin - DM has been, think its quite old fashioned but has accessible rooms

RubyDubie · 10/06/2024 21:55

Sorry autocorrect- Daish not Danish

unsurebut · 10/06/2024 22:05

Thanks everyone. It does have to be a hotel which is a shame because I've seen a few self catering places which would be perfect.

I shall check out the suggestions - thanks again.

Have a look at Euan’s Guide.

rabbitorhare · 10/06/2024 22:09

Do you have a preference for a particular area?

Lokshen · 10/06/2024 22:11

West Bay Cottages in Freshwater are nice and I think have some accessible ones. Would be worth a phone call. Sadly for the more mobile of the party the pool there is permanently closed though.

rabbitorhare · 10/06/2024 22:36

Daishs is located right by the old village and although a little dated it seems to be popular most of the year with coach trips!

You could also try Lakeside Hotel in Wootton and there's a warners hotel in Bembridge - The Bembridge Coast Hotel.

The visitisleofwight.co.uk website has a filter for accessibility, but you may have already tried it!

I meant ambulant wheelchair user.

its2024 · 11/06/2024 00:48

Daish is a coach holiday/hotel company have many in the UK so why popular with coach holidays. So these hotels are aimed at the older cliental!

You do not have to go by coach to the hotel, can self drive yourself. My partner parents have been to most off there hotels and never have a bad word to say about them.

Get sent some cracking deals when been on one off there holidays so always off on holiday

We stayed in the Premier Inn in Ryde which was perfect for DMIL. Parking right outside the door and lift to the 2nd floor. Nice and central but steep hill down to the sea. We then booked another night - another funeral- and when we arrived late afternoon they said the lift wasn't working which was totally unacceptable. We had no alternative but to get the ferry back with a long drive home. So...it's great if it works!

Drop an email to their central tourist information office. This is the sort of thing they know.

Norton Grange ( Warners resort) at Yarmouth is I believe and its right on the coast and 5 minutes from the ferry..

Scarletttulips · 11/06/2024 08:02

Try the Joey Dunlop foundation. Close to town and wheel chair friendly.

Thank you so much everyone, it's very much appreciated. I will work my way through the suggestions.

Sorry not the Premier Inn - it was the Travelodge!
