having issues with mortgage

Mortgage in principle said we could borrow what we needed, then the bank said no (Was a lot less)

now going through a broker to try and get a better mortgage and borrow more

i am employed, husband is CIS employed

as anyone had more success with borrowing more through a broker and got what they wanted/ needed?

we have no loans, no finance, no credit cards

DS bought last November as a ftb. He had a missed credit card payment from about a year earlier and had to find a higher deposit and pay a slightly higher interest rate on a longer term mortgage, but a broker was able to find him a lender. He plans to remortgage on a shorter term and hopefully lower interest rate after five years.

I hope it works out for you. As an aside, I have read that having, and properly managing, some debt (e.g. credit card) actually improves your credit rating, which should make it easier for you to borrow down the line.

Yes. Current high St lender offered 120k. Broker got me 220k from high St lender. No adverse credit. Just that my income is wages, benefits, child dla and child maintenance. Not all lenders would take that in to account.
