I've just moved to a new flat and want to do a big shop to fill up my cupboards - does anyone know what supermarket will carry all the bags up to my door on the 2nd floor? It's in London in case that makes a difference.
One of the cheaper supermarkets preferably....in fact which ones are the cheapest these days?

Asda definitely deliver to flats, not too badly priced either.

Tbh I find Asda or Tesco cheaper

I’d say Tesco best priced Iceland is predominantly frozen food so it’s not like for like

There is a word for Iceland. It is "ghastly".

PlumPeony · 13/01/2025 19:10

Ocado - they are price-matched with tesco

garciacherry · 13/01/2025 19:13

Asda do it for us 95% of the time.

It's worth knowing though that technically, their contract says they don't have to come into the property.

There was one time someone refused to come into the building and made us come down. It was a bit weird and we were confused, but I looked it up and they're within their rights to do it (unless you note on the delivery that you are disabled etc).

Waitrose/ Ocado have brought it up every single time but of course they are expensive.

you will be able to work this out for yourself OP, when you begin online shopping,
deciding for yourself, declaring 2nd floor flat in the appropriate section

Given the OP posted six months ago, I'm pretty sure she will have.

Most supermarkets deliver to flats.
I've had deliveries from most of them.
Sometimes the asda delivery person won't bring it up stairs and I've had the same issue with tesco.
Morrisons always bring it up to my door.
Iceland also bring to my door.

JC03745 · 13/01/2025 19:22

When I was in a 1st floor, London flat, I used to run down to the front door with my bags and ferry them back and forth once the driver had gone. It was only when 1 guy carried them all up, that I realised that some actually do this! I don't they are contractually obliged to do this though, but you could ask. If you have a disability, I think you can pre-request this.

I mainly get deliveries from sainsburys, but asda as a back up. Sainsburys price match alot of things to aldi and I can get everything I need. They also have nectar prices for regular buys. Sainsburys have more delivery slots available than asda- in my area anyways. For many things, I find sainsburys cheaper than tesco!

I hate it when that happens, lol

however, I wouldn‘t put good money on it 🤔

Footage going round today of a disabled couple filming an asda delivery driver as he refused to take their shopping to the second floor for them.
He took all the shopping back.

Why have you resurrected an old thread to post this?!

I live in a second floor flat,no lift (28 steps) and I've had deliveries from Iceland,Morrisons,Asda, Sainsbury's and Tesco. Only ever once had an issue, with an Asda delivery. Delivery guy buzzed the intercom, and when I let him, instead of bringing my shopping upstairs just dumped it in the downstairs hallway. After waiting 5 minutes and he hadn't appeared at my front door,I went out and looked to see 10 bags of shopping sitting there. I was not best pleased as I have mobility issues, and had to ask my neighbour to help me carry it upstairs. But thankfully this only happened once.
