Dance moms

I have been watching dance moms on catch up with my oldest daughter (11) (who is dance obsessed) and I said to her 'I would never let you be part of Abby Lee Dance Company.' My daughter said she would do anything to learn there.

This got me thinking, if your daughter really really wanted to go, would you let her? We train several times a week and my daughter is in various shows/competitions etc and is it really much different?

Would you be a member of the 'dance moms' and let your daughter be a part of it all. It's undeniable that Abby Lee Miller trained the dancers amazingly, but at what cost? Do you think the moms now regret letting their daughters be a part of it all and do you think the daughters are angry at their parents?

No I wouldn't have let my DD attend.
I've met Maddie. McKenzie and Melissa at a dance event here, they were all perfectly pleasant but absolutely focused on being famous.

I would love to know how much they paid each month to the ALDS, I can remember Kelly saying a figure and it was eye watering, like thousands of dollars a month.

Was that the one with the fan dance, so it looked like the girls were naked behind the giant fans? I think there was so much controversy it was pulled from everywhere.

I'm glad this thread has popped up again, because I've been listening to Back to the Barre - thank you @ToxicChristmas for mentioning it on the thread. I've been enjoying it - what an eye opener.

DD and I watch this obsessively. No Abbey is not a good teacher. The mom's are compellingly awful. I used to think Holly eas the best but she is quite smug and patronising and just as obsessed with fame and name dropping celebrities as the others. They never show the dads. I guess they are working 80 hours a week to fund it all, as the moms don't work. Holly quit her job as school principal.

From season 2 the production company paid for the lessons etc.
