What is the most impactful thing you've done to turn back the clock (non surgical)

Tldr version: What's the most powerful way you've found to turn back the clock sans surgery (I'm not getting a face-lift)? Creams, pills, those weird light masks, massage?

Longer version (an SOS): my work was in the public eye until about seven years ago, and since then, I've had children and moved to the country. All good, v happy.

However! I have some new projects in the pipeline and need to make myself look a lot better by next summer. I thought I was doing okay but recent passport renewal photos showed me that I'm looking HORRIFICALLY mumsy. 😬

Really don't want people to die of shock when I emerge from my bucolic chrysalis next year, so please, please help. 😩

Someone said that if you could put a good night's sleep in tablet form you’d make millions.

Goldenmemories · 09/06/2024 11:54

No alcohol

olderbutwiser · 09/06/2024 11:55

Get a good haircut and a makeup makeover so you look groomed and smart (or whatever impression you want to give).

TheDandyLion · 09/06/2024 11:57

Exercise. Movement creates energy. There is nothing that makes you look younger than looking like you have energy.

Lilacdew · 09/06/2024 11:57

Weight training. Strength, vitality and way better posture. That middle-aged slumped back and pouchy belly are replaced by upright spine.

AzureBlue99 · 09/06/2024 11:57

Sleep. Thought a decent nights sleep was beyond me - post menopausal, anxiety ridden. Gave up alcohol, no anxiety and the most rejuvenating sleep since teenage years. Go to bed and wake up 8 hours later. Would never have believed it, last few years have been existing on little sleep. My skin is glowing, face is relaxed (in a good way), people comment. So, sleep for me is worth never drinking alcohol again.

Seedsnnut · 09/06/2024 11:58

got more sleep, reduced the refined sugar and UPFs in my diets.

I often get ID’d, when I don’t sleep well over a consecutive series of nights I never get ID’d - not a bad thing in itself - but it’s the fact it immediately shows on my face in a really obvious way. Lack of sleep is the biggest aging thing for me.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 09/06/2024 11:59

Stop drinking so much alcohol.

OfDragonsDeep · 09/06/2024 12:01

No alcohol and proper exercise (these lead naturally to better sleep for me too). And not expecting it to work overnight, need to give it a good few months to start to show.

BurnerName1 · 09/06/2024 12:02

I like the tips here marking place

BettyUnderswoob · 09/06/2024 12:02

Drink lots of water.
Exercise - of any and all descriptions.
Give up sugar.
HRT (if appropriate)

moleeye · 09/06/2024 12:02

Water, sleep, a good skincare routine, exercise - with particular focus on strength training.

And, I cannot stress this enough SPF. Minimum 30, preferably 50!

Consistency is the key

Cloud44 · 09/06/2024 12:03

Following for ideas!

Cuppachuchu · 09/06/2024 12:04

Keep out of the sun, wear sun cream.
Minimal alcohol, lots of veg and a generally fresh food diet.

ManchesterLu · 09/06/2024 12:08

Lots of water and a good moisturiser. Get one of those water bottles with times on the side so you can make sure you're drinking enough during the day. Almost everything in life gets better when you're properly hydrated - it's crazy.

sunshinechaser · 09/06/2024 12:09

All of the above.
Tretinoin.
SPF 50 every day.
Try and wear current clothes. Follow stylish people on Instagram and wear clothes similar to them.
I get Botox but it's quite subtle.
Teeth whitening.
I will get a facelift when I'm 60 I think.

Devilsmommy · 09/06/2024 12:10

Not giving a shit what other people think about how I look🤷

PrincessHoneysuckle · 09/06/2024 12:11

Botoz isn't surgery so does that count?

PrincessHoneysuckle · 09/06/2024 12:11

Botox

Sunshineonasameyday · 09/06/2024 12:12

Changed my diet and now eat zero UPF unless it can't be avoided and eat in excess of 5 a day fruit and vegetables. I also make sure I don't go ultra skinny as that is really aging.

Greentreesandbushes · 09/06/2024 12:13

I’m quitting alcohol for a bit as I’ve aged terribly.

LlynTegid · 09/06/2024 12:14

Regular consistent pattern of sleep. When IPlayer and other catch-up tv started, no more late nights for any tv programme.
