60th birthday present

For a friend. We don't usually do presents, will go out somewhere with friends and buy lots of drinks to mark to occasion, but not a present as such. She doesn't like a fuss and wants for nothing anyway.

This year her husband is organising a huge bash. A very exciting celebration that anyone would be thrilled to have an invitation to and he's covering the costs of everything, travel, food, drink, entertainment.

So I must get her a gift, but what on earth?

She loves a drink, but is otherwise very into health and fitness (a half marathon time which is pretty amazing for a 60yo woman), not into "things" and despite being pretty comfortably off doesn't buy expensive clothes, toiletries or things for the home, does spend money on socialising, loves her garden and her dog.

Any ideas at all?

How about a nice small shrub for her garden, one that flowers around the same time as her birthday each year.

A bottle of champagne, some seeds for the garden and some nice things for her dog?

David Austen rose? Climbing rose Gertrude Jekyll is an absolute stunner for blooms and scent.
Annual membership to RHS
Subscription to fitness/gardening magazine
Really good bottle whisky/wine/gin

A gift bag of some of her favourite toiletries, even if they aren't expensive it shows you've thought about her. Pop in some miniature bottles of fizz and some treats too. That's a gift I'd be happy with!

If she's a friend you would have a day out with, a homemade voucher for a trip to a beautiful garden might work.

A nicer version of something practical for the gardening? Willow trug, stainless steel tools, a pretty obelisk.
