Sorry to hear that. Do you drink alcohol at all? (When I did, I could guarantee that I would wake in the early hours). Do you have headaches when you wake, or do you do any gasping, snorting or snoring (ask your partner)? Might be worth checking out your sleep quality, and if it has been happening consistently and for a long time, then getting possible sleep apnoea ruled out (speak to your gp for this).

I'm on my own but I don't think i do any of that stuff as far as I know. It's like a peaceful stiring natural wake up. No head ache.

I do have animena/iron problems and i get very drained and tired if anything I should sleep reasonably.

I think there are phone apps that I can check sleep with not sure how they work though. They seem odd. How's my phone know what type of sleep I'm in 😅

Do you have a Fitbit (or similar)? If you wear it overnight it can show you what phases of sleep etc

You can download snorelab , I think its free for a month. You set it going at bedtime abd it records whether you are snoring and hiw badly. I had NO idea how badly I was snoring as, like you, I'm on my own.

If it keeps happening for 2-3 weeks then go to your gp, for advice. Or you could try taking an over the counter sleep aid (like herbal nytol, I found it really effective, or stuff with CBD in - you can speak to the pharmacist about that). Hormones can affect sleep really significantly.. perimenopause can absolutely decimate sleep quality. And I wonder if your anaemia / other health problems can contribute to sleep issues?

Dontsayyouloveme · 06/06/2024 19:34

Are you peri-menopausal at all? It can play havoc with sleep! 🙁 oh just noticed PP has already put this but I’ll reiterate… PM is terrible for disturbing your sleep

Probably. My periods have changed I used to be on for just 3 days now it can be 10+ days. So probably am peri menopause. Never knew it would effect sleep

If there are no other stress or changes that you can pin it to I would say it's likely PM. I haven't had it confirmed but my sleeping pattern is just like yours. I go to around 2:30am find myself wide awake until about 5:30-5:45 then i fall asleep just in time for my alarm at 6:30. It's so frustrating.

How old are you? This was one of my key meno symptoms, HRT completely resolved.

  1. I don't really want to take HRT at least not yet.

Magnesium supplement resolved a lot of my perimenopausal symptoms including insomnia and night sweats which kept waking me up

ABirdsEyeView · 06/06/2024 20:46

Magnesium glycinate with an elemental iron content of 300 might help you out a bit.
