Kids tea ideas please

Looking for ideas for very quick teas for one DC on clubs nights. We will have 30-45 mins between walking in the door and having to be out again including getting changed.

So far I've thought of sandwiches, jacket potato in the microwave, or scrambled egg.

Thanks

Dippy eggs & soilders
Pre made tuna pasta
Wraps (tuna/ham/chicken/salad)

Leftovers from the day before/lunch reheated (Bolognese, chilli, curry, stir fry etc.). Or batch cook and just reheat when ready to eat.

Beans/cheese on toast.

Pizza

Soup and toast

Batch make bolognese, chilli etc and reheat in the microwave
Pasta with pour on sauce
Jacket potato - with cheese, beans etc
Omelette
Ham egg and chips
Toastie / panini
Soup and toast
Pizza
Chicken tonight with rice
Picky tea - sandwiches, fruit, yoghurt, cheese, cucumber sticks,

Quesadillas - two wraps on top of each other with cheese, pre cooked chicken, tomato paste and sweetcorn in. Toasted in a pan on both sides. So quick and tasty!

Sandwich/snack on the way home or at home, changing, off to clubs and dinner afterwards.

I wouldn't rush around cooking with that time window.

We normally have the freezer filled with pasta sauce or curries for these days so dinner is easy and fast afterwards.

Are you eating together, or do you just need something for one child? If you've fridge (or better, freezer) space and a microwave, then if you save some leftovers and/or do some batch cooking you'll save yourself a lot of effort.

If you want things which are quick to cook and eat:

  • spaghetti carbonara
  • 'posh pot noodle' (any number of recipes for noodles with broth)
  • omelettes and salad
  • pan-fried fish fillets in a wrap with some salad
  • a speedy paella-ish dish
  • stir-fries of many varieties
  • Anything made in a slow cooker, plus some veg to go with it, and maybe a chunk of bread if it has a sauce which'd go well with some bread.

Or some nuts, yoghurt and fruit, or similar filling snack to keep your child going, and then eat together after their activities have finished.

Batch cooking is your friend or a slow cooker. I have portions of a tomato pasta sauce that I make, lasagne and chilli that I can heat as rice or pasta takes 15 mins and peas for the lasagne takes less than that.

We sometimes have a Thai snacky tea in fast turnovers gyozas and bao buns with a bit of cucumber, peppers etc on the side ready in about 5 minutes.

If they have a decent meal at school dinner time, then a sandwich balances it out on those nights.
Otherwise, anything on toast.
Or, if you want something hot / bit more filling, then save portions from meals you've made the family either the night before, or long before that and put them in tubs in the freezer.

Chilli / stew / bolognaise / casserole / lasagne / cottage pie / etc.

Thanks all some great ideas there!
