Garfield vs If

I want to take the DC to the cinema this weekend. They’re 7 and 8 and both quite sensitive (the grandmother scenes in Encanto and Moana are often an issue 😬).

Personally, I really want to watch If, but is it a sob fest at any point? Thinking Garfield might be the safer option.

It’s a very emotional film. I’d stick with Garfield.

Balls, thought as much. Thanks. I’ll wait until it’s streaming then clear an evening for it like a saddo

Garfield, it was so funny.

TubeWhine · 05/06/2024 14:35

@Yirk my expectations are low so this is good to hear…

I’ve seen both. IF definitely has more mature themes throughout, but was the better of the 2. Garfield was meh, but probably better for your children.

Garfield hands down. Took 5 kids (not all mine!) ages 6-12 to see both. All loved Garfield but only 1 liked IF, others thought it was too boring and long.

My 9 and 6 yr old (and myself) really enjoyed Garfield.

I'd looked at 'If' but saw it said about bereavement topics. We lost my Mum in 2021 and just felt as light filled half term activity I went for Garfield.

I'd like to see 'If' though.
