I know this has been done to death so I'm sorry, (I always keep at least a year on mine so o do t think about it) and I'm panicking so it's quicker to just ask her. Thanks in advance for the forbearance.

Paris trip end of next week. DH has just wandered into my office and casually announced that he has less than 6 months' of validity on his passport.

I've queried whether he at least has three months and he's gone to find it. (Have a vague notion 3 months might some times be significant).

Is he going to need a rush passport?

He's just said he thinks his expires in August, but he hasn't actually found it yet.

If he's right that only two months.

I think you need 6 months validity for Europe. I'd check for sure and then get an application in asap

His fault for not keeping tabs on the date, never mind not being able to find it....

I hope if he can't go you won't give up going alone (you don't say if you are going as a family).

I had a fabulous solo trip to Paris a few years ago.

https://www.bbc.com/news/business-68675348 this is really clear and helps explain it. It’s not solely about how long it has left for Europe, but if it’s been valid for over ten years and also has hardly any time left. (For various other places it’s different, eg India you need 6 months left on the passport minimum).

UK passport: How much does it cost to get or renew and what is the 10-year rule?

The price of a applying for or renewing a UK passport has risen for the second time in 14 months.

Thanks. Yes I think six months must be the general rule.

I just found this that says three months for France. Still not quite enough.

I already have three DC. Why do I have to mummy him through this?

Believe it or not he travels all the time for work. Sometimes at very short notice. I can't work out what's up with him,

I have a degree of disability so the driving etc would be tough on my own. I'm wondering about taking DD instead.

I am definitely thinking that leaving him behind is a better lesson than clearing up after him though.
