C section tomorrow - what to look forward to?

I have a baby boy due tomorrow via C section and I am super nervous as I already have a 11 year old daughter

would love it if you could share some of the big (and little things) to look forward to, that are coming my way?

I can’t remember what it’s like to have a baby and all I can think about is the 11 year slog I have ahead of me before my child reaches the same level of independence again… 😫

Really want to feel excited - any tips ?

Practical tips. Make sure you have enough home cooked meals and baggy clothing around your scar.
Mine are 2 years apart but I'd forgotten how tiny their bums are! And how small thr nappies are. The weird snuffle cry when they wake hungry, when they fall asleep while feeding....awww it's lovely . I bet your daughter is so excited

If you need to cough, sneeze, or laugh hold a cushion or pillow tightly to your lower abdomen.

Appreciate post catheter wees, they are the best wees you’ll ever have.

Congratulations!
I had a c- section 6 months ago and despite complications was best experience
I have 6 year age gap so had similar feeling
Despite it being relentless at beginning I wish I could go back to the newborn days - the highlights were

  • how tiny and beautiful baby was
  • when she cried it sounded like a dolphins impression
  • the size of her nappy
  • just getting to stare at her and hold her
  • then. You will have first smile to look forward to

The biggest thing to be excited about is meeting your son tomorrow!
Other things are seeing your son develop, that gorgeous new baby smell, look forward to the smiles!
Also you'll hopefully get to see a lovely relationship between your children develop. I would imagine you're DD will be pleased to help you out, and cuddle her brother, entertain him when he's upset and let you have the odd cup of hot coffee (I have less than 3 year gap, it was full on for a few years).

Good luck!

Baby snuffly sounds
The smell of their head
Their weight and heat as they curl onto your chest under your chin
Being able to bring them along to cafes or other places
They have no opinions or preferences yet!!
Breastfeeding, if you can do it, is so rewarding and beautiful.
The absolute awe of how little their toes are.
The smiles of strangers when you go out and about
The crazy excitement when they do something for the first time even if it's a yawn or a sneeze

Having an 11 Yr old is great. You can go to the toilet, eat or even shower when older DC is home. You might possibly be able to nap once in a while. It will be wonderful!
