It's menopause right??

I'm 45 years old, have periods every 3-3.5 weeks. It's currently been 4.5 weeks since my last period.

We have sex a couple times a month and always use condoms. (No mistakes)

This has to be a menopause thing doesn't it??? 🙏🏻

I know I know. I'll pick one up tomorrow. But I'm just wasting my money because I'm old and sensible and use protection.

At your age you’ll be in
mensoause when you haven’t had a period for two years so carry on with those condoms you’ve got a while to go.

Fifiellz · 03/06/2024 21:15

I got pregnant at 45, it turned out to be a chemical, but I know of a few woman locally that have carried to term naturally at that age.

I'm 48 now, periods still regular and still have a little panic if my period is a bit late!

Fifiellz · 03/06/2024 21:16

Sorry, meant to say if your using condoms then I'm sure your fine.

greengreyblue · 03/06/2024 21:17

I missed my first period at 45. I knew I wasn’t pregnant as DH had the snip. It could well be peri but you need to test.
I then had regular periods for a couple more years with the odd month missed until skipping two in a row etc until stopped aged 51.

Joyfulincolour · 03/06/2024 21:30

Do you have any other symptoms of perimenopause? There are many.

idontknowaboutyou · 04/06/2024 05:12

Yes I've had insomnia for a while now and getting overheated at night. Brain fog and exhaustion too.

It'll be peri-menopause. It's not menopause until you've gone one year since your last period. The clock restarts after every period.

So yes, you will still be able to get pregnant. Possibly easier than before because your hormones will be spiking wildly, potentially making you super fertile and super horny at random times that don't match your usual cycle.

Phew!! Menopause it is!

Phew @idontknowaboutyou ! I am 41 but periods have been bonkers for over a year, at least every 3 weeks, and then my last 2 just didn't arrive. Had the insomnia, brain fog and random sweats so assuming peri. I'm so annoyed I wasted money on pregnancy tests just this weekend (both neg, also phew!) and of course today had a bit of spotting so clock has re-set. Can't wait til it's all over.

I've been consistently every 3 weeks for about 3 years now. Very weird to skip one. Yes can relate to the other stuff!

It’s peri for sure. You’re only officially menopausal if it’s been 12 month since your last period.

greengreyblue · 05/06/2024 06:51

They have to start skipping at some point. Some people just stop getting any at all but many start to skip. My first skip was age 45 and my very last period age 51.
