Car buying dilemma

All things being equal would you buy:

A) An April 2021 registration (21 plate) car with 13,250 miles for £18,000 from an independent showroom. There MIGHT be some wriggle room in this price but it's already been reduced.

B) A December 2020 (70 plate) car with 24,250 miles for £15,700 from an online dealer?

I'm on my mobile so I can't enable voting. Which would you go for?

When you say ‘all things being equal’ do you mean the EXACT same manufacturer and spec?

Shade17 · 03/06/2024 19:50

Hard to say without knowing the make/model/fuel type

A

If I had 18k then A.

Bunbum · 03/06/2024 19:53

We need make & model of both

JobMatch3000 · 03/06/2024 20:13

Toyota Yaris hybrid petrol.
Same trim level.
Both silver in exterior colour.
Both been on sale since March.

I have a £10k cash deposit. If I went for the £18k one, the remainder would be HP. If I went for the cheaper one, I can pay the remainder with a 0% credit card.

Presuming the engine is the same size - A and negotiate based on your cash deposit.

Shade17 · 03/06/2024 20:18

As it’s a Toyota then the older one 100%. Really is no point paying an extra £2k for a 5 month newer car with a few more miles at that price point.

Springwatch123 · 03/06/2024 20:26

A - I’d rather a dealer could speak to in person.

poorbuthappy · 03/06/2024 20:28

0% all the way. Why pay interest if you don't need to?

I think that's the clincher. It would be something like £1,750 in interest saved.

Negotiate on A @JobMatch3000. DP is a mechanic and car mad. Toyota is one of the most reliable makes and the yaris hybrid will do you very proud.
