Just posted on the Motor Neuron Disease Association news page.

"It is with great sadness that the MND Association has learnt of the death of our patron Rob Burrow CBE, four and half years after his diagnosis of motor neurone disease.

Our thoughts today are with Rob’s wife Lindsey, children Macy, Maya and Jackson, family and friends and the rugby community."

Such a brave man who has undoubtedly raised awareness of this awful disease. RIP Rob 😢

Sad to see this. His family have been so brave and Kevin Sinfield has worked so hard with him for awareness.

RIP Rob.
MND is a cruel, cruel illness - thoughts with Rob's family, and thoughts of those who have passed away due to MND.

JoJothegerbil · 02/06/2024 18:52

So sad. My DF had MND and died nearly 26 years ago. Such a cruel disease and still no cure or effective treatments.

Elderflower14 · 02/06/2024 18:53

So very sad...
My lovely brother in law died of MND... He never got to see ds2 grow up. They would have been firm friends...😢 😢 😢 😢

Absolutely heartbreaking, condolences to his family. RIP Rob.

Guiltyaboutwork · 02/06/2024 19:00

he was incredible as was his family. Also thoughts for Kevin and other rugby players/coaches etc that knew him.

His openness meant I understand a little more about MND though I’m not a rugby fan.

eileandubh · 02/06/2024 19:02

So sad to see this news - what a courageous and inspiring man he was, and what an immense contribution he made.

xxSideshowAuntSallyxx · 02/06/2024 19:04

So sad. 41 is far far too young.

There needs to be some sort of research into why so many rugby players are getting MND and whether there's any correlation.

And I'm a rugby fan.

Sirzy · 02/06/2024 19:05

Having had the pleasure of watching him at his prime (and as a Saints fan cursing his talent many times) it has really hit me hard.

his legacy on and off the pitch will live on for a long time and rightly so.

Whoknowswhatanymore · 02/06/2024 20:11

His daughter goes to my children’s school and they have done so much fundraising for him over these last few years. It breaks my heart to hear of this news. He was an amazing person. And his family are inspirational. Sending much love to them all at this time xxxxx ❤️❤️❤️❤️
