Girls’ outfit for school assessment day

Youngest DD has an assessment day later this month.

Any ideas / links to clothes that may be suitable? When there have been assessment exams and test days for the kids before, they’ve worn their school uniform, but this one specifies no uniform to be worn.

How old is she?

OpusGiemuJavlo · 01/06/2024 21:22

Whatever she would wear to visit Grandma.

vinoandbrie · 01/06/2024 21:34

She’s 10.

I would just choose something she's comfortable in, probably not jeans or a tracksuit, but anything else should be OK.

RampantIvy · 01/06/2024 22:01

Her current school uniform?

vinoandbrie · 01/06/2024 22:03

The school specifies school uniform is not to be worn.

Smart casual, so not sports leggings but trousers/top, dress etc. Does the day include any physical or practical activities?

ididntthough · 01/06/2024 22:07

Doesn’t matter at all whatsoever. Not for London schools anyway, not sure about the shires!!

PointeShoesandTutus · 01/06/2024 22:07

Something akin to uniform - so I'd go for a blouse with a cardigan over it and a skirt or chino type trousers, or a summer type dress with a cardigan.

Conservative cuts/styles/colours.

Think Princess Charlotte.

Abouttimeforanamechange · 01/06/2024 22:39

What is her usual preferred style? A smarter version of that. So top and trousers rather than t-shirt and leggings. No slogans or cartoon characters.

Thanks so much for this help, I really appreciate it!!

What on earth for?

If it's independent, it'll be blatantly obvious that the OP can afford the fees and if it's a bog standard secondary doing transition/CAT4s, nobody will give a shit as long as she's not wearing a swimming costume and wellington boots.

Completely depends on the school. My DD was offered a place and she wore joggers and a hoodie despite it stipulating that she should wear uniform (her current school has a very relaxed uniform policy so that's what she wears for school 😬)

ididntthough · 02/06/2024 18:17

none of mine needed to buy special outfits like Princess Charlotte…
honestly anything is fine, as advised avoid the loudest slogans perhaps but really the assessments are really what counts, not whether you turn up wearing caramel or a Rachel Riley smock dress!
again my experience is of London schools.
