My water pik stopped working after 18 months due to the limescale in my area

Are the cheap one just as good?

Having just seen a video of one of these, and all the comments about them spraying the whole bathroom & the clean up needed so they end up unused in a drawer, I decided not to buy one.
I’m waiting to see your answers to see if anyone actually says they are worth it.

Have you ever had any water flosser?

They are really fab!! Just don't turn it on before it's in your mouth!

Gosh I see what you mean. I have an expensive one but the £20 ones get good reviews too. I’m no help.

Yeah, I do a mixture of flossing, tipi brushes and water flossing and think I’m getting at everywhere! I have this https://amzn.to/4bSJKt4

@Cheeesus thanks! That one looks really good but our water is so hard just reckon it will scale up again, typically a month after the warrantee expires!

Lean over the sink, partly close your mouth and don't switch it on till it's in or take it out before you switch it off!

We have a cheaper one (don't ask me the model, no idea) and my teeth feel so much cleaner and I have no pain like with traditional flossing/teepee brushes.

IME they tend not to last long whichever you got for & the cheap amazon ones are as good or better than the waterpik. I got an amazon one for about £8 a few weeks back.
I had a cordless waterpik that was DREADFULL and £50

beergiggles · 01/06/2024 17:58

Also, I find salt water is best (1teaspoon per 0.5L) and kinder to gums. I run a bit of plain water through it when I've used it so the salt doesnt build up inside.

Yes buy Amazon, they're so cheap if they die (mine haven't) you replace with same. I buy cordless easier to clean.
I had 2 or 3 waterpiks before
I do however periodically descale with white vinegar

Amazon one lasted a month. Waterpik is still fine after two years
