If you had your hair dyed yesterday, would these roots annoy you?

Had my hair dyed yesterday and this is how it looks today. She used foils. Does this look really bad to you?

I hate the colours, it's a really brassy blonde, but the roots seem horrendous to me? If you're a hairdresser, is there any reason why you don't get the foils closer to the head, or is she just not very good?

(And yes, it is very uneven and much blonder on one side than the other).

My very experienced hairdresser let me leave the other week and must have known I hated my hair. I nearly cried. I had asked for subtle ashy highlights, no yellowy tones and ended up with pretty much a block gold colour with copper bits. My skin undertone is pink and what I ended up with looks awful on me. The regrowth is horrible too as there's so much dye in it that the roots really show.

The thought of then getting the same person to fix something which has just taken them hours is grim. I didn't have time to stay that day or to go back so I'm living with it and toning the hell out of it.

I cannot understand how you can have the same person for ages and they suddenly stop listening to what you're asking for. It's happened to me a few times.

This sort of thing makes me feel a bit paranoid. I once had something similar with a hairdresser I used in London, who did an ace job on both cut and colour - until one day she allowed the colour to leach through and stain my shirt collar. She was terribly apologetic and I accepted her offer to get the shirt laundered, but her cuts were never of the same quality after that and I wondered in hindsight if she was actively trying to remove me as a client.

A friend who also goes there has said the same thing!

I thought she was being a bit paranoid but she got given a row of 3" layers at the back of her head last time.. that's worse than a bad colour.

Surely you'd just claim a full diary rather than do this though. It makes no sense. I think it's more complacency

Good job OP!

I think you should take up hairdressing!

I wouldn't be going to another hairdresser in a few weeks I'd just leave it and go next time you'd usually go (to a new hairdresser not the old one) as it looks really great and nobody would know it was a box job repair situation!!

I totally agree with this. I went in February and she did it so nicely. Asked for the same again and came out with that.

She was very distracted and talking to the other hairdresser next to her so wonder if she just wasn't concentrating? It's not the first time either. She seems to be fine for half a dozen appointments then really messes up.

I'm definitely not going back again.

Thank you! I'm a bit worried it will fade as I wash it and the blonde will start to show through again but I won't go back until it's ready for a touch up.

I might dye it myself again when the roots come through then go to new lady.

I was so upset yesterday, very happy to have fixed it for a tenner and half an hour of my time 🤣
