All the roads named after lakes are fine. Lavington/liddington/Nine Elms also ok. The bit that's considered not so nice are the roads ending in Leaze but many are ok and there are far worse areas in Gloucester.

Emekda · 31/05/2024 18:44

Is Brockworth nice and safe to live, like Boverton avenue/ drive and what’s new Pembroke development like
Looking to buy a house. Thanks you

Any inputs on The Triangle area in Longlevens as it’s behind Windermere Rd
looking at the satellite map can’t really tell
need to buy a property to live, so confusing as we don’t know any areas, just looking at the Rightmove and taking a guess
thanks

Most of Longlevens is nice. As PP stated avoid the Leazes. The Triangle and all that area is nice.

bigfatchips97 · 31/05/2024 19:06

Longkevens is one of the nicer suburbs of Gloucester. All of it is safe. The Triangle is perfectly fine as is Boverton Avenue in Brockworth. Be careful if you are looking at secondary schools. A few parents I know who live in Longford/Hucclecote have been allocated schools outside of Gloucester. I think the newer developments in churchdown and brockworth mean those suburbs which would previously have been ok for Gloucestershire secondary schools now no longer live close enough. Fine if you get into the local grammar schools but not fine if you're aiming for a non selective.
Housing wise longlevens is very family friendly, good primary schools, lots of nice semi detached houses, cheaper housing in the Leaze roads. Wouldn't say any of it is unsafe.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 31/05/2024 19:14

Omg flashback to walking past the triangle on a walk when I was a Brownie!

Yes it's quite nice - close to school, community centre (for Brownies😉), coop, chemist, dr surgery. Not far from the bus to Gloucester or Cheltenham, not far from the motorway junction - all in all a good spot I'd say.

Gloucester isn’t the nicest of places. It really depends on what you are looking for. Some parts of Longlevens are ‘better’ than other areas but it’s very built up, has lots of new builds popping up with social housing etc. Same with Brockworth. There are amenities in both of the areas and Longlevens is close to town (not that there is much to see there).
depending on your budget and what you want, there are much nicer places to live. If you are set on Gloucester, my personal opinion is the better areas are Churchdown Village, parts of Upton St Leonard’s, Highnam or parts of Hucclecote.
Good luck in your search😊

Does anyone know what’s like living on Perrybrook new houses development by Taylor Wimpey.
We have looked is 4 years old house and it’s lovely but there is absolutely nothing near by no shops no coffee shop apart from the Halo Brockworth sport centre down the road. We were told there are plans for a doctors medical Centre. Does anyone knows what’s like living there? Thanks

I wouldn't eve choose Gloucester. It's rough. Property is cheaper for a reason!

Churchdown, Cheltenham, would be a much better option.

Catnuzzle · 31/05/2024 22:27

Some areas of Gloucester are rough, same as some areas of Cheltenham are. I'm quite happy not being a postcode snob and getting much more house for my money in Gloucester.

OP I'm near to the areas you're thinking of. No direct knowledge of Perrybrook though.

Haribosweets · 31/05/2024 22:42

Longlevens is fine, but would avoid the leazes so sandyleaze, elmleaze etc. Windermere road is fine but driveways are small so a lot of on road parking. Oxstalls area is nice, Oxstalls way, Chamwells etc. I used to live in Oxstalls Lane and park avenue and know the area very well

Thanks for your answer, we have passed the stage of needing the schools, now we looking for nice neighbourhoods and lovely cute coffee shops, restaurants etc
thx

Longlevens is not a good choice for cute coffee shops and restaurants. If you tell us what your move is for (schools, work) someone might be able to better advise. Longlevens is fine for amenities and housing but it's not a lively (or cute) metropolis.

Emekda · 01/06/2024 15:21

Finally we have decided on a place between Cheltenham and Gloucester. I guess for a cute coffee shops and nice restaurants a drive to Cheltenham and for shopping Gloucester or Bristol. By the way Italian trattoria restaurant by the docks is fabulous, will be returning there for sure.

You also need to find Over Farm Market, great fruit and veg, good butcher and a nice little cafe. It's just a short detour on the way to or from the Docks

Emekda · 01/06/2024 19:26

aww thank you, great information, definitely good fresh produce are must. Do you know name of the nice cafes, also are they any whole foods in Cheltenham or Gloucester
thanks

bigfatchips97 · 01/06/2024 19:30

Bath road in Cheltenham has lots of cafes which are nice and there is also a whole foods shop, can't remember name.

EagleEyeRock · 02/06/2024 05:28

I wouldn't move to Cheltenham if you're looking for nice neighbourhoods and cute coffee shops - Chelt is known fo being unfriendly. Cafes are mostly chains.

Barh Road used to be nice but the traffic there is just horrible 24/7. Even sitting in Exmouth Arms beer garden you feel your lungs dying. The wholefood store has extortionate pricing.

Would you not be happier in a smaller town nearby, somewhere like Malvern would suit you. Lots of independent coffee places, wholefood stores, very safe & friendly.

Emekda · 02/06/2024 08:51

Thanks for that information. Have never even heard of Malvern is it near Worcester and above Ledbury?

Worcester is around 20 minutes drive from Malvern, the train gets you there in 8/9 minutes, might be worth a visit to see if you like it.

You'll get more for your money than near to Chelt!

Everyone's different so it depends what lifestyle you're looking for?
